Day 1 was enjoyed last night during a brew session..

The smooth criminal on the label was a pretty big hint..

The nose is dominated by rum ... On the palate sweet vanilla subtle cinnamon and plenty of chocolate roast. This was an easy guess of Criminal Commission as a fellow El Catador member I have a bottle of this but have not drank mine yet which is what is great about this BIF. #drinkitnow

Also shared a few extras with @mervmurry tuesday watching the Reds beat the Brewers!

You hammed that bourbon already huh... What did you think? This was the Local's barrel pick that we selected in November.

For day 2, I sort of half-heartedly tried to figure out a way to use my new glassware without completely unwrapping it, but couldn't make that work -- So I had the head start of knowing this is a barrel-aged (all 6 of mine are, according to @tsgooch79 ) beer from Ethereal brewing. Me being me, before I even opened the bottle I did some research, and figured the early favorite was BA Aunt Hohmina, since Ethereal doesn't seem to make that many stouts, and this is the only one that's obviously barrel aged. So .. on to the pour:

After pouring, smelling, and tasting, this is about as definitive a Russian Imperial Stout as I've ever tasted (sort of like a souped up version of Bell's Expedition). Ethereal only has a couple of RIS possibilities, with Baba Yaga being much more popular (and I've actually heard of it). So that was where I was leaning. But... further sippage tellsme this guy's definitely got coffee. And that doesn't seem to be something folks notice in Baba Yaga. And there are no other realistic options I can see. Maybe more drinking and less thinking will help...
    :
    :
So fast forward probably an hour -- I'm drinking this one slowly, and enjoying it very much...
    :
    :
And sorry, this doesn't have a LOT of coffee, but it's definitely there. Not as much in the smell as the taste, and more espresso than plain old Dunkin Donuts. After extensive further digging (in other words, using untappd in addition to BA, and then considering archived beers), this has gotta be Coffee Baba Yaga. It seems to be pretty limited, but my sender is one of the few reviewers; if it IS an older beer that would explain why the coffee isn't particularly dominant. So I'm gonna lock that in as my guess. And as for the reveal...

Whew. I got this one. And have a big advantage on day 5, since it's Ethereal again. And BTW Travis, I love the glass -- it's gonna slide into my regular tulip rotation (I'm now up to 105 glasses, but lots are tasters or weird specialty glasses, I'll always use proper glassware when possible, but I have some tulips I prefer in a vacuum -- this will get plenty of use.

Thanks very much @tsgooch79 -- also -- I will do my best to follow rules, but tomorrow evening I think I will be meeting a fellow local for beers and/or dinner, if I get home really late I may have to delay opening my Day 3 beer (especially I have a wedding to attend an hour away Saturday morning!). But I promise I will do my best to keep on schedule.

    Day 2! Let's go!

Feels like a 22 oz bottle, tape on cap again.

Smells like a barrel aged stout. Pours nice and black. Looks like Mike is right up my alley style-wise again.

Medium bodied, maybe a tad on the thin side. Tastes fantastic. Good barrel presence. Don't get much adjunct-wise. It's sweet, so maybe a tad of vanilla, or maybe that's just the barrel. No clue what this is. Maybe a BA Evil Twin based on the 22 oz bottle and the location of my shipper? Lets unrwap this sucka.

Boom! Didn't get the maple barrel, but maybe that was the sweetness I picked up on. Awesome first two days. Thanks @Mikexw !!

Locals #2 a little thin could be a porter with a lot of hazlenut( @Elneenee thinks graham cracker).

Day 2 from @Sassyshe888 brings another Bottle Logic cap
    [IMG]

This one definitely is a thick as JTR was yesterday. I definitely get some cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. Since I have more respect for my time than @Mikexw, I outsourced to Slack and @Devman171 guessed that it was El Duende.

Devin was correct! Thanks again Sheila, looking forward to tomorrow. #worksmarternotharder

Day 2 from @Kramerbarthomer is a black capped 500ml. No wax or stamps to tip me off to the brewery.

As soon as I open it, I am punched in the face with maple syrup. Before I take my first sip, I am not 100% certain that this isn’t just a bottle fancy maple syrup.

The taste is straight pancakes. Not getting any barrel or much of anything else. Maybe some vanilla? It’s almost too sweet, but not cloying. Based on my senders location and my research into breweries and beers to look for in Denver last year when I visited, I’m leaning towards Work From Home from Cerebral.

Cerebral Personal Day! I was in the right ballpark. Had the brewery and the base beer right. I didn’t really taste any cinnamon or bourbon barrel until after I pulled the wrapping paper off, and even then it wasn’t super noticeable. Even so, this is delicious. Liquid pancakes!

    Thanks Doc!

    Day 2!
Cork and Cage from Transient. I’ve had some of their stouts and maybe an IPA, but I can’t think of a sour. This has really nice funk with tart cherries. Maybe some strawberry to add sweetness. I have no clue what this is.

Transient anachronism. I got the cherries right! I pick up the oak more as it warms. Another great beer from @NJB145!

    Day 2
    #pgw provided

GW and cork are a giveaway this a black project beer and I believe my first tick from them... pour is a beautiful golden color nose is stone fruit and a touch of straw.. on the palate pretty acidic up front stone fruit light touch of front and a pretty clean finish.

I'm guessing this is a sour golden with peach but not familiar enough with Black Project to know the beer by name...

Lazar... spontaneous wild with peach and a perfect day 2 beer on a hot humid cincy night.

    Cheers @MTKATL thanks!

Day 2 from @PassMeAZima brought a golden sour, packed full of nectarines. Tart and juicy up front, crisp and dry on the finish. This one tasted awfully familiar, but I had zero guesses. I don't normally do sours, much less try to keep up with whose who.

Straight to the reveal, Casey Funky Blenders Nectarine! No wonder why it tasted so familiar, I had a small pour this past weekend at the Newbies pre DLD share. Thanks Jason, straight banger, glad I got to enjoy a lot more than a few sips this time!

Day 2 brought to me by @vitaminvert...
The dark red WeldWerks wax looked very similar to the bottle @Kramerbarthomer sent as day one. Hmmm... Once I opened the bottle I got a strong whiff of brandy. The beer poured like motor oil. It had aromas of brandy, chocolate and dark fruit and tasted very much the same. This beer was dark and thiccc...mouth coating. I knew this had to be a brandy BA stout from WeldWerks.

Bourbon Brandy Medianoche!!! This is one of the best brandy BA stouts I've ever had. And I got an entire bottle to drink myself! Cheers Andrew! I can't wait for tomorrow!!!
