The aforementioned hoarders and traders. I'm always amused by the sheer volume some folks buy at these releases. I see them walking away with cases to their cars. I even saw a guy buy a whole case of Father of the Wolf...FATHER OF THE WOLF. lol

Damn, didn't realize the limits were that high. I knew it will be popular, but damn! Was on the road from Portland to Seattle and was planning to go online about 2pm to get some DDH. Oh well

Since they have only done a few "on-line presale" releases, I think they are trying to dial in a system that works from the feedback they got.

Several customers still wanted the option to Stand in line after the King Citra/New Dreams Release...lol... So they brought that back for this release.

I would assume that they will take this further feedback about can limits for online purchase. They took the can limit feedback into account back in 2016 when they started with the in-person Can releases in Sac and Napa.

ROFL. No cans in taproom as previously stated. @grilledsquid They need to "Git gud" at running a business. Although they make the same money either way...

I am so glad that they have went to the online sales...I would much rather sit in front of a computer and refresh the page over and over than wait in line for hours outside in the elements.

I know that DDH Pulp is highly sought after, but I had no idea it would sell-out in like 10 minutes! As soon as it popped up for Sac, I ordered DDH Pulp and PB 5000 got my confirmation, did a little happy dance, went back to think about ordering some more and the links for cans were gone! Wow!

I'm pretty happy with the online sales model too. It was pretty obvious this would be a monster release so I'm glad to have gotten the amount of DDHP and PB 5000 I wanted. Now... let's hope they're good batches lool.

^^^This! So this...I am hoping that this batch of DDH Pulp lives up to the hype. The second batch of Pulp and King Citra were not as good as when I had both of them in March IMO. They were still great, but not like the first batch! LOL!

A couple of questions on Fieldworks new online sales.
On their site they have the weeks sales information. I realize this weeks can sales are all sold out. But they state that they will have limited amounts of cans at each of their locations. We'll be doing this one a little differently with a limited release at each Taproom as well as an online sale for pickup. Is this the norm each week? Do they have limited cans available at each location for sale day of release? And are they sold as 4pks or per can?
Also if I purchase on the online can sales, you have to chose pick up location? I haven’t done one of these yet. But there’s always next week.

Look at my IG quote from a few posts ago. They said they would do that, but they lied. They clearly don't know what they're doing.

I don't think there was any intentional LYING.

Things change. It sure looks like they we overwhelmed by online demand. Then allocated all remaining cans to fill online orders.

As @lucius10 mentioned above, I would much rather be at a computer ordering cans for a few minutes then wasting my Saturday standing in line for an hour or more. Fuck that.

I am all for ONLINE pre-lease can buying. 100%.

Since your first question was already answered, I can answer these 2.

    Cans are sold as singles.

Yes, you chose your location. That is where they send your cans. Berk, Sac, Napa, San M, San R, or Montr. Then you have a week to pickup at your leisure.

Also these are not weekly releases. More like every 2 or 3 weeks. Obviously, this whole process is still being dialed in.

Trying to dialed in. If I do buy online I have to make sure I can fly to MRY to pick up. And I can run over to ASB and see what they have available to bring back. It’s all about timing for me.

There is almost no way it will live up to the height of the 1st batch of DDH Pulp....lol... The first ALBUM is always better from a band....haha....

I did not intend on buying any in-person (as I said, I got mine online.)

But I am all for breweries keeping to their word.

If they said they were holding back some for in-house purchase, they should do so, even at the expense of more online sales.

Just like when Moonraker said they were gonna hold back some anniversary tix last year for day-of, and then decide to pre-sell them all last second after I already made plans to go day-of.

Anything publicly communicated, they should be held accountable to do it.

I don't know for sure, but it might be a technical issue. Someone on the other site was told they oversold when he went to the brewery to pick up his cans for the last sale so he was given some pretty generous compensation for the trouble. It's possible they oversold again but caught the issue fast enough to accommodate all the transactions beyond the threshold. Who knows.

Either way, I don't think anyone lost time or wasted gas for the mistake.

If and when I do make an online purchase I’m more worried about the cans being available for pick up. I know there is a little over a week window for pick up. If I show up for pick up and they gave my 4pks away then what? I’m sh!te out of luck and $$?

At this point, I would err on the side of caution and pick up sooner rather than later. It's obvious their e-commerce platform has some kinks to be worked out.

I really don't see the issue with realizing the online demand and re-allocating the held back cans to online sales. It's a lot more convenient for everybody, cuts down on mules, and places like HPB do something similar (there's been a few times when HPB meant to hold back bottles for the release day but due to demand or other issues let their beer members purchase all allocations).

But mostly, waiting in lines is the dumbest goddamn thing ever and any decision to stray away from that aspect of beer culture is a great decision.

Agree. At first I thought wtf with FW’s new online sales. For me I have flown to MRY and SFO to go to the source and buy cans on the spot (if still available). Now I have to make sure I can fly there to pick up my purchases. Otherwise I’d be throwing my $$’s away. I like the idea of online sales.

Another NO HASSLE pick up (Sac location).

Walked in. No line at all. Picked up cans. Got tasters. Even got a good parking spot.
