You have not had a gueze if you think it tastes like juice.

No, they're keeping the $3000 a year, we are the ones missing it :slight_frown:

More evidence pointing towards subjectivity. I'm sensing a pattern here...

im pretty sure when i was on my Belgian sour kick, my bank account was missing quite a bit of money. Stupid freaking Hanssens Oudbeitje, Cantillon Classic, and 3F Oude Gueuze.

When I bought hopslam for the first time I was convince that I was crazy for spending $20 on a sixer, then I found the world of ccb brewery only releases and sours. My bank account no likey.

Can you let us know which ones you've tried? Cause I think you are doing it wrong.

I can see why you might think that with fruited ones. Ive even noticed a difference in quality the past couple years in fresh cantillon. Makes me wonder how recent vintages will age.

OP- I think I'll be in Milwaukee in Feb for a weekend... I would be happy to bring a few sours and we could set up a tasting somewhere...
If you don't like the sours I bring, then you just aren't a sour fan. (at least not yet!)

Are you referring to Lindeman/Chapeau fruit lambics? When I let my friend try some authentic lambics I can assure you "juice" wasn't a word being used.

There are no standards of taste in "beer"... Each man's own taste is the standard, and a majority vote cannot decide for him or in any slightest degree affect the supremacy of his own standard.

You are missing taste buds that appreciate gueuze and lambics.

Maybe the OP had a sweetened gueuze? I mistakingly ordered a couple in Belgium and they were more like soft drinks than the gueuzes I know and love.

They're not my thing either, generally, but I'm happy to try one now and again to see if I might like it more than I expect.
