Wrapped up a 15-mile run in the rain, did some yard work, and now onto my new beer. Game of Thrones - King in the North by Ommegang. I had planned to crack this for the finale, but I didn't end up opening it.

Poured from fridge temp. Pours jet black with a considerable amount of light brown head. Nose is straight up stout. Licorice, roasted malts, brown sugar, tobacco, coffee grounds, and dark chocolate. Not picking up much barrel on the nose. Taste is really smooth. A touch sweet and a bit bitter on the back end. Notes of charred wood, dark chocolate, black licorice, bourbon, molasses, vanilla, and chewing tobacco. Really nice stuff. Mouthfeel is pretty thick and viscous. Overall, this is a solid stout without a heck of a lot of barrel. Very enjoyable. Cheers!

Good evening, all! I'm still in mourning over the loss of one of my favorite beer glasses, which fell apart in my hands as I was washing it. I have never seen another one like it, but I'll keep looking. Fortunately, I have a few  others I can rely on. This vintage hollow-stemmed goblet will do nicely for this Summit Maibock. This just showed up here last week, and the discussion over in the "In Search of Maibock" thread piqued my interest. This seems right on point for the style, according to the description here. Nice bready malt character, light copper-amber color, herbal and spicy hop bitterness. Excellent pairing with BBQ pulled pork, but I think it might've been even better with bratwurst and spicy ground mustard. Cheers!

New beer #2. Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien Grand Cru (Aged in Oak Barrels) by Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes out of Switzerland. Poured at fridge temp, but allowed to warm (as directed on the label). This one pours a dark red/brown with almost no head. Nose is full of peach, oak, cherries, funk, and leather. The taste is insane. Sour upfront, with a deep leathery barnyard funk on the back end. Throughout is peach skin, apricot, strawberry, earth, oak, horse saddle, yeast, grass, and maybe a bit of spice. Mouthfeel is dry, and the alcohol is well hidden. This is a real treat - one of the most unique beers I have tasted in quite a while. If I ever see this again, I will grab it. Cheers!

    16 oz. can.
Moderate pour yields a one inch white head over a hazy golden body with some lacing. Nose of citrus, floral, and pine. Taste mirrors nose with pink grapefruit and ruby red grapefruit flavors with a finish of citrus pith and a bit of pine. Good, soft feel and overall, a pretty solid 6.0% IPA. Cheers!

    Hello Late Night NBS.
I lift a glass to my Uncle Russell and my stepmother's Pop, Roy. Uncle Russell was Army, in the Calais diversion for D-Day. Roy went through hell in Guadalcanal, and didn't choose to speak of it. I was ALWAYS wanting to hear about his experiences, but I honored his wishes by never asking.
I must give a big thanks to @foundersasap for blessing me with a bottle of, well, of Founders!

Mothership Series #5: Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout

Pours the deepest possible brown, without surrendering to the black. A meaty, froth of dark cocoa colored bubbles, packed together, pushing up assertively over the rim. Retention to die for. We have a breach. Rich cocoa foam meets the counter, and I'll be damned if it's not already sticky. She's a rich one.
The aroma pounced before the head reached the rim. Rich, deep, roasted malts. Chocolate, dates, earthy barrel notes, bourbon, brown sugar, subtle vanilla, and an overall creamy delivery of all of these notes.
Taste follows with a decadent, sumptuous smorgasbord of all I mentioned in the nose, but dialed up, rounded out, and like a full symphony, all is happening at once, and through its complexity, all components get to meld their solos into the grand scheme.
Mouthfeel is chewy and full, somewhat creamy. A cozy warming that is gentle considering the ABV. The sweetness is slightly tamed on the finish with an earthy dryness.
    Overall, world class. More please.

Cheers NBSers. Some wicked thunderstorms outside this evening while I watch Crime Story and sip on a WA beer that a good friend and customer at work brought me. Cheers to the fallen and active troops on this holiday weekend.

Pour is moderate with good carb and lacing. Nose is minimal. Taste is bready malt, caramel, slight red berry and pine. Mouthfeel is adequate. Nothing spectacular but a solid 3.5 range red ale.

    These guys enjoyed themselves today.

Finally getting settled in after spending the day going to pick up my oldest son to spend his summer break here. Divorce and the custody issues that ensue suck but it is what it is.
Finally getting to try this one courtesy of @foundersasap .

Pours a meat black with a finger of mocha head.
Smells of chocolate, vanilla, caramel, roasty malts, slight barrel presence.
Taste follows, dark fudgy chocolate, vanilla, roasty malts.
Medium body with good carb levels. Warming alcohol presence initially but finishes pretty smooth.
Overall an excellent BA stout, the fact that it is pretty easily available makes it even better.
