Belgian Tripel. Seems like it darkened a bit (oxidation, I think) since bottling, but still tastes good.

I picked some morels today and was looking at a recipe to make tomorrow that calls for cooking them in white wine. I don't have white wine so am exploring an alternative. I poured half a glass of Berliner Weiss (with subtle grapefruit addition; just at the threshold of recognition) and topped it off with homebrewed cider (dried out and then backsweetened, probably would have called it semi-dry back in my wine drinking days). As a beverage, it's pretty nice. I won't say you could close your eyes and not know the difference between it and sparkling white wine, but I do think it will make a good alternative in the recipe.

    Not a beer pic:

Pale Malt, Flaked Wheat, Flaked Oats, Styrian Aurora, Citra, Coriander, Orange Peel, Rubias tea, Nectarine Blossom yeast. Damn tasty Wit. Only 4% ABV since I continued to sparge since it wasnt hitting my preboil volume, not realizing that I had the valves open and my wort was going down the tubing, through the pump head, up the tubing, and down the sink.

Oh man. I feel for ya. A while back I built an ops manual for use at a local brewery and labeled the main three-way valve as "IQ Test" on the system diagram.

Brett beer, fermented using Yeast Bay's Amalgamation.

Mostly pilsner, with white wheat, vienna and flaked oats. Warrior, Rakau and Amarillo hops.

Such a strangely delicious beer. Aroma is skittles, overripe tropical fruit accompanied with some gym sock funk. Flavor is pineapple, with a higher than expected acidity. Hardly any detectable bitterness, and a bit cheesey.

The other half of this batch I fermented with Imperial organic's rustic, and I love sharing these side by side to people to show them what yeast can do to a beer. The rustic batch came out very dry, with lots of bubblegum, and other classic Belgian esters such as fruit and spice. Definitely more bitterness than the brett version. A completely different beer in the end.

Kinda green, but will be real nice in a week. Love this Hop combo.

He calls this a 'poor man's sour' and that is exactly what it is. Nice and tart and refreshing. I can see brewing a batch every summer.

Helles I brewed way back in January. Lagered if for 2 months then Krausened it in the keg then let it condition for another month.

Enjoying my first homebrew and wondering why I didn't start this hobby 20 years ago! Chinook ipa from a box store but what the heck, it's my first brew. 2nd brew is in the primary and I am debating what #3 will be

That's great. Welcome to the den of the afflicted.. I'll remember my first (completed) homebrew as long as I can remember things.

Not sure if it's just me, but your pic/image isn't loading. In case it's you and not me, this might help.
Most image hosting sites (photobucket, imgur, etc) have an option to copy links for your images.
Copy the link that says "direct link".
In the post composition window, click the link at the top that looks like mountains (between emoticons and the filmstrip.
Paste the direct link it the Image popup, then select Insert.
Your pic should then be visible when you "Post Reply".

Thanks. I think I used the proper link this time, also made it public. It isnt the pettiest but it's drinkable and brew day #2 was more seamless (except my wheat beer now has a half oz of gin from sucking thru the airlock when I turned on the AC last night!) Temp drop of 5 degrees was enough to pull a vacuum on my overfilled lock! Always learning I guess. It was at a vigorous roll too

Same here....now. I think Vern beat the 15-minute edit window and changed the link.

Yeah.. took the advice of a few extracts to start with but I have my eye on some big brews in the future. Glad I went extract as I have already learned from my first two brew days, BA community has been a great resource

IIRC there was some concern about whether the grain bill would get this dark enough to be a brown ale.

It is on the lighter side of brown (you can shine a light through it), but has plenty for the style.

I cheated a bit, I brewed it before the voting was over.

I overshot the FG. it had a touch of acetalhyde early in the fermentation so I left it in the fermenter a little longer and warmer and it cleaned up nicely, but the FG dropped to 1.009.

It's very drinkable, but I think I would prefer it closer to the target FG. I'm also not a big fan of the flavors that brown malt brings to the table. I perceive it to be an ashy flavor. I may re-brew this in the fall with some minor adjustments.

On a side note has anyone ever brewed a 100% brown malt beer?
