I think it's safe to say 2017 & earlier batches are having no problems.

    Fall 2018...personally, I'd drink immediately.

Starting to work through my Fall '18 stash. Popped a coconut on Friday and it was perfect. Testing the regular, hyper, and cognac asap.

Opened a fall 18 BA Jones Dog last night and it smelled great but tasted off and the more it warmed up, the worse it got similar to a diacetyl taste. I had them stored in my beer fridge the whole time( except for the 2 hour drive home) and it stays between 45-50 degrees.

Popped an 18 hyper dog. Very distinct “malted milk ball” flavor, which i have not experienced with this beer before. It’s.... interesting?

I think it was better cold, but I’m going to let it warm up. For science!

Took me the second can to really warm up to it but I quite enjoyed True Reality. Might be my favorite so far in the Cracklin' Oat Beer series.

You need to copyright that name immediately.

I opened my BA Coconut Jones Dog from the Fall 2018 release, and it was clearly infected/turned/bad, just like the BA Jones Dog and BA Hyper Dog from Fall 2018 that I’ve opened in the past month or so. This one may have been the worst of all...green apple and sour. I dumped it after a few sips.

Since I’ve had such a bad run with the Fall 2018 batch, I decided to open a Winter 2016 BA Hyper Dog yesterday. And it was magnificent - made me remember why PW BA Dogs are some of my favorite BA stouts out there.

From the Fall 2018 batch, I’ve still got bombers of Jones, Hyper, Cognac, Apple Brandy, and Sundae. I think I’ll crack all of them within the next month.

I’m going to send PW another message about these.

That is unfortunate, but it seems like every major brewer has an issue with their barrel program at some point. It's just the nature of the beast.

How they respond to the inevitable issue is what differentiates them though ...

Full response forthcoming. Looking into these reported issues that appear to be a bottle-by-bottle occurrence. [I had a coconut two nights ago (kept warm, in sunlight lol) and it was like a liquid mounds bar with lots of coconut for me - I love coconut].

After Murderous, we took a deep look into every step of our barrel, quality assurance and bottling programs and have made substantial changes that I can outline in my next post (got a conference call in 5 minutes here).

In the meantime, anyone who has had an issue with a Jones variant please e-mail:

    [email protected]

and we'll get to each e-mail as soon as we can (again it might take a few weeks so please be patient with us, but we will make good on anyone who has a reported issue).

And again Thank You Thank You Thank You! any and all information is extremely helpful so we can improve our practices and make tastier, shelf stable, beer.

It seems Astro Giant only had Galaxy & Mosaic (at least detailed on the label). I remember enjoying it so looking forward to the 6% version.

For those who loved the Pipeworks/Marz collaboration 'King of Borgs"I have some news. Once again, Pipeworks is collaborating with Marz on a triple dry hopped pale ale called "Borgweiser." I would look for an announcement in a couple of weeks.

Astro Giant was actually a bit of a miss for me (by PW's standards). I found it to be extremely boozy compared to their other DIPAs. I actually just looked at my review of it, and that was my main (really only) complaint. I actually state that I would love to see a single IPA or pale version of it. Looks like my wishes have been granted with Astro Dwarf.

Not sure if I missed this earlier in the thread, but a Binny's employee told me that Pipeworks is discontinuing all retail bombers. Everything will be in 16oz cans moving forward.

True, @NOTpipeworks -- or is this old news & I need to better utilize the search function?

This would definitely be news as this would mean the fish beers would be moving to 16 oz cans ... which up to this point they were staying in bombers.

Would be news to me as well. I think the keyword here though is retail. Its very possible they only distribute cans but continue to sell bottles for their bigger beers out of their shop. If this is true, however, they better not do it before they open the brewpub! Now that I moved to Portage Park, the Dojo is a much less convenient trip for me.

I'm down for 4 packs of 16oz. BA Abduction cans...

I'm probably the minority here, but I still generally (with some exceptions) prefer bombers to 16-oz 4-packs. It's less of a commitment volume-wise (albeit at a higher price per ounce).
