I missed it again, Duvel day... at least I am drinking in the Duvel Tulipe, Guinness that is. What an heresy... I’m good for the purgatory.

    Have a nice Saturday BA.

Fantastic Russian imperial stout. Amazing lasting head retention and thick soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas and flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, dark bread/crust, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, smoke, charcoal, raisin, fig, date, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/charcoal bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and full body; balanced creamy/silky/bready malts, sticky hops, and chalky char/roast in mouthfeel. Lightly increasing hop/char dryness; never acrid or astringent. Super smooth, minimal warming 9.9%. Picked up a 4 pack from 2017 off the shelf a couple months ago. Would definitely get more. Nails the style perfectly. Extremely rich and complex malts, restrained fruity yeast, with great earthy hop presence/balance against sweetness.

    Final days?

Figured I try a proper Jim pour for this theme day. The beer I actually rescued from the depths of the dead part of the fridge from the last theme day. Cheers!

Amazing as usual this year. Aromas and flavors of huge mango, honeydew melon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread dough, spicy rye malt balance; and herbal, floral, grassy hops earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium-full bodied with balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resin/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing resin/rind dryness, no hop astringency. Minimal warming ABV, dangerously smooth. Insane dankness across the board. This is basically just imperial Born Yesterday IMO, very similar if not the same hops. Ekuanot, Galaxy, Simcoe, and Mosaic was the first batch, probably similar here. This has all of the same dankness at a much higher ABV, while remaining well attenuated and not overly sweet for over 11.7%. Mosaic and Ekuanot are my favorite hops. Got 2 packs immediately. Might even get a third if they keep hanging around.

Woke up to The Offspring on the alarm, so that's why I am listening to them.

    Good morning BA
I just finished my 6th straight nightshift for a 75 hour week and am now on vacation for twelve days. Let the beering begin...

My wife would say I can be a cheap Duvel, but I prefer the term frugal. I'm still more partial to dark Belgian beers than pales, but this is very good, especially for $6.

Thanks @LeperJim for what I'm sure will be an interesting day here at the virtual bar. Cheers all!

Good day BAs! Well, we've gone nearly 24 hours without rain - EVERYBODY in the 'hood was cutting grass yesterday - it may be another week or so before we get the chance again. I actually have muddy lawnmower tracks in my backyard but hey! At least I'll be able to see the anacondas swimming past. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Fantastic as usual. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, caramel, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; balanced creamy/bready malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no cloying/astringency. Very smooth, not aggressive, minimal warming 7.5%. Fantastic Nugget, Warrior, Columbus, Simcoe, Palisade profile. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great balancing dark/Munich malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Revisited the review recently, should have done it sooner than I did.

I'll need some rest. My wife bought tickets for a beer festival fund raiser at the local zoo tonight. Mediocre beer, hipster wannabes and the possibility of bad weather... what's not to be excited about? Cheers all and enjoy your Saturday!
