[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz Funk Brewing Teku glass canned 4/16/19. Pours a very attractive hazy dark yellow with a 2 finger sticky white head that leaves a thin wall of lace as it slowly settles. 4.75

Smell is guava, tangerine, pineapple, and a little grapefruit rind. 4.5

Taste follows massive tropical flavor front to back, guava, pineapple, tangerine, and very little grapefruit bitterness. 4.5

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, soft on the palate with gentle carbonation, a tad sticky but not dry, and at 6.8% crazy drinkable but drinks more like 8% in feel and flavor. 4.75

Overall this one is a special beer, so darn tasty. I drink a lot in this style and this one holds its own with all the greats I have had. 4.5 Thanks @jzeilinger for this masterful NEIPA.

I didn’t change anything, did you have to scroll to the right to view the whole thing tho? I do with some of the posts from Imgur. They’ve been finicky for the past month or so now for me.

    Hello New Beer Sunday!!!

Another long week done, and a day off work tomorrow - the last one for a while. Looking forward to it, though I've got a doctors appointment to look as something that's bothering me for a few months now. Hopefully it's nothing major, and easily fixed.

Sadly, I'm a 45 year old single guy. I'm totally lacking in a special beer drinking partner. Since none of my friends know of any single gals who would be even close to being right for me, and I work too damn much to get out at all anymore, it won't change any time soon. Sucks, to say the least.

I do know one gal I like to drink with, but she also works too damn much, and we are never able to get together anymore.

Oh, well, on to the beer, and I had to add it into the system.

Cascadian Comet from Lupulin Brewing in Big Lake, MN. 5.5% ABV and they call it a Northwest Pale Ale.

I was expecting a clear beer based on what they called it, but it's murky as heck. It really has a nice hop aroma - pine and a bit of citrus. The flavor isn't as hoppy as the aroma suggests, but there's still some there.

Not a bad one and done beer tonight.

Pours a darker orangish/golden color. Very murky. 2 finger, frothy, white head. The retention isn't the best. Some lacing on the glass as the head dissipates.
The nose is quite hoppy. Some pine hops mixed in with a bit of citrus hops. Quite pleasing.
Taste - The nose was quite hoppy. Up front, it's almost bland, more malty, but then the hops kick in on the back side. It's not extremely strong, but it tastes more of a pine hop.
Pretty decent body. A bit of the carbonation gets into my throat.
This is a decent beer packed into a lower ABV. Got a nice flavor, but not overly hopped.

One and done. Hopefully I'll see you all next Sunday for our favorite past time.

    Cheers!

It's not demanding every element of the style, but maybe one or two other than just being hazy?

Besides, TG was brewing beers with that general appearance before NEIPA was a thing.

A beer that is, by taste, aroma, finish, and aftertaste, a "midwest" IPA, only hazy,... is that all a NEIPA is? Well, OK, fine. Why is it such a big deal, then?

Uinta Test Phaze IPA, a New England Style IPA, 3.72 overall

Pours a hazed honey color with a pinky of beige head. Below average head retention & lacing

S: Peach & apricot, fades a touch down the stretch

T: Follows the nose, dryness & orange peel as well up front. Tart orange, a little green melon & dryness as this warms. Finishes with dryness, orange & peaches

MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, decent balance

Drinkable take on the hazy IPA style, but nothing to get excited about

I've had it poured where one week it seemed genteel on the chiles, the next week it was somewhat overwhelmed. Chile is a fickle bitch to work with. I tend to love spicy food, but like the chile in Mexican stouts to be in the more subtle range. I'm glad that you liked it well enough.

You ARE going to be in a part of the country where it's pretty easy to find good beer. My money is on you finding something tasty.

Great "early brewing" shot...I wish I had one of me and my brother the first few batches. maybe a picture would finally redeem us for the not-so-tasty beers we concocted.

I feel like I'm the only one who feels differently about that beer. I'm drinking number 5 of my six pack now. Wondering if I got a bad batch. The nose is decent, but the taste is just like chewing aspirin. I get almost no flavors other than bitter. I think I'll give the last one to a buddy and see what he thinks.

    Late one for me.

For the past few years, since my wife and I started on the path to having kids, I have tended to drink beer alone, usually mid afternoon on a slow work day, or late at night when I have the world to myself. She used to love beer, but just hasn’t had a taste for it since giving it up while trying to get pregnant. She’ll have a glass or two of good wine once or twice a week.

Tonight’s beer is a long time want from a brand new trading partner. It was a blind trade for some glassware and a few locals on my end. It speaks to his generosity. Thanks @sokol_1993

    Russian River Pliny the Elder

Bright gold with a moderate head that sticks around for a few minutes before giving way to thin film that laces as consumed.

Gentle aromas. Stone fruit, citrus, slight dankness, a hint of bubble gum.

Citrus on the tongue with some piney hops and a very little dankness. Pleasantly bitter throughout.

Exceptionally crisp and yet full bodied and substantial.

A great beer and rightfully at the pinacle of the west coast IPA hierarchy.

    Cheers!
