I understand the SN thing that they brought up in the first page, and again it sounds dodgy. Other than that I've heard people calling him a "capitalist pig" and accusing him for changing his mind about canning and selling out, implying he is some sort of traitor of authentic craft beer culture and a hypocrite or something. That sounds immature and silly to me. But hey, maybe he was himself silly and immature at one point and changed his mind.

I don't really know much else about the guy, nor do I care. Unless he is profiting from hurting others.

They call him the names he used to call others for doing what he has done. Including in posts right here on this forum. I don't care. Been around fake hippies since the sixties. Been pointing finger at them since then too.

I drink what I like, glad to say mostly local things nowadays made by folks I know. Cheers!

Pretty much 13 to 14 a four pack everywhere I shop. Even at your prices that's still less than a $8 bomber though.

Lagunitas impy is 4.99 a bomber, and 7.99 for the BA version. Yes, they are not nearly as good as Fidy. But is it really THAT much more expensive to make?

I had some Born Yesterday on tap a few weeks ago, that was a great beer. The stuff in bottles scares me , it’s a slow turner and tends to have a lot of age on it. Don’t now the history, don’t know McGee, don’t care. The beers old I won’t buy it, price friendly or not I won’t risk it.

Their beers are always insanely old around here. Other than seasonals, IPA and Sumpin', we get them twice every six months at best. I really like Dogtown, Sucks, and their especially their Pils, but it's too hard to find fresh. By the time we get them, they're typically, at best, 6-8 weeks old, and they typically set on shelf's for anywhere to six months to a year.

I do love that, like Stone and Sierra Nevada, they haven't started scamming with 16x4 packaging.

That really sucks. I think Stone is no longer making good beer, alas. :slight_frown:

Cali beers here are really left in the dust, I don’t trust Lagunitas, I don’t do Stone except for Enjoy By. There’s a ton here the shelf I just won’t buy without being dated. I’d bet by the shelf space that Buriel is probably number one, Weed two.

Brown Shugga is one of my absolute favorites, but that and Waldo's (and Olde Gnarleywine whenever they choose to release it) are the only ones I regularly seek out.

"Scamming" because pricing on those 16x4 packs would increase price per ounce compared to what they get now for a sixer?

I've had very little Lagunitas the past few years.
I don't disparage the owner for selling out no matter how vocal he was in the past. He was offered life-changing money that should last his family generations. And a lot of factors go into trademark lawsuits, etc. That's business.

That said, I refuse to support macro beer, so even if Lagunitas remains largely true to craft from a production standpoint, I won't buy them. Based on what I know (no inside info, just read a lot and understand corporate finance), the macro brewing business practices throughout the distribution chain limit choice, are designed to mislead consumers, and hurt small local or regional businesses--all in the name of corporate profits. I don't invest in the companies and I don't buy their products.
But i get why some people don't care about all that. It is just how i chose to live. With few exceptions I only buy beer brewed nearby (my state, and any contiguous state, which gives me plenty of options between DE, PA and NY), by independent brewers.

Having a Phase Change right now and boy, it's fantastic!

It's a throwback to the golden days of WC dank tropical goodness, when Enjoy By and other similar beers were coming out with that bold, dank tropical style, but also sweetness, etc. This one is really tropical heavy, and sweeter than Born Yesterday, very slightly acidic passionfruity, with moderate bitterness in the end. Another amazing deal in beer.

    God bless Lagunitas ind33d.

Screw all the rich self-important bankers too. I'll just walk away and live in a box like a large percentage of WA, but I would mind a can of that Westie if you have one please.

Only a couple of their beers in town and they can go away anytime. I have no love for Lagunitas.
