“Its proof? A label on Bud Light packaging that listed four ingredients: “Water, Barley, Rice, Hops.”

I wonder when will be seeing a list of ingredients on Busch/Busch Light packaging where corn syrup is listed?

“Ingredients: Water; Corn; Barley Malt; Rice; Corn Syrup; Hops; Hop Extract; Malt Extract.”

    More AB bashing.

If consumers really want to know where their beer comes from, it is not hard to figure out.

And these articles love to point out how much the core beers from AB keep falling but I would be interested with all of their acquisitions, how much of the total market they have. I suspect it remains very robust. I am not in their camp.

And I suspect the corn syrup thing has been a win for them. I hit a nerve and it is still garnering press.

they're just so easy to bash. Like any mega corporation the distance between the corporate marketing babble and their behavior grows and grows. In this case, there would be no bashing if one of the most oblique and disingenuous actors in the beer world weren't trying to trumpet their commitment to transparency

They’re easy to bash, and so is Walmart. Anytime your this big in your individual market you certainly invite criticism, especially from your competitors. Even if it’s not in big bold print it’s easy enough to read the label, and for AALs really like why bother? I happen to dislike Bud Light, I’d never ever buy one, but I’d certainly like to have that beer in my portfolio if it’s my business. Was there any real changes in Lowenbrau when they went from being an import vs being brewed in the US? I don’t remember.

I hate the word 'transparency' because it can have a double entendre if you let your mind use logic. Something transparent means that you can see thru it, hence the truth cannot be seen. I wonder if AB's use of the word is a sham thinking their customers won't see the truth? (Okay, that theory is a 'stretch' but that's where my mind goes on this topic.)

Not sure guys or gal who happen to like Bud Light care about this either way. Maybe another poke at MC, I’d suppose they’re specifically targeting Miller Lite drinkers with this stuff, but given a choice I’d prefer the Miller over Bud Light any day every day.

Famous last words like "watch this" or "I am not a crook", or "fake news" We live in weird times..I personally don't give a rat's ass for Bud, Miller, or any other big outfit that doesn't give a rat's ass about me. Other than that, everything is cool.

Yes, "transparency" is just another AB InBev marketing gimmick. I wouldn't use that fact to point out the company's supposed hypocrisy -- that strikes me as naive and beside the point -- but rather just cynically to note the existence of the gimmick. What the industry needs to beware of and resist is AB InBev using its political sway to get cumbersome, legally mandated labeling requirements such as calorie counts in the name of transparency.
