Thats a shame- there are stacks of all variants besides Vanilla and Bramble at basically every store in DC who brought it in, and you can still find those 2 at off the beaten track stores. I'm sure many of those stores would love to be able to offload their inventory at this point.

They should have used 23 year old barrels and saved themselves a step.

That reminds me of an old quote:

In hope the Reserve Rye makes it into bottles!

Happy to see Wheatwine back as well.

Always look forward to these amazing beers, which rarely disappoint.

I passed on BCBS last year and didn’t see any variants. Will prob grab a bottle or two this year if I see them.

A few years ago we got a decent amount of variants, if you happened to be in the store you were good, it you happened to be in the parking lot walking to the store you were out of luck, they were all gone before your hand would have hit the doors. Under 30 seconds I’d say.

+1 for this. Cracked open a 2017 BCBBW last night to remind myself how majestic of an ager that beer is. Even without going back to the superior third use barrel OG recipe I still think BCBBW is the best English BW out there.

Summit Brewing in St. Paul, Minnesota reportedly has an incredible lab and staff, and contract to other breweries. They're all about science and quality.

I'm going to disagree and say Firestone does the best barrel aged. But I'm still loading up on this one.

I've not been a fan of wheatwines, but was totally impressed with the Bourbon County one last year.

Now that I know how to get the variants, I'll be getting them all again, unless they have Bramble, which didn't impress me at all.

Quite agree on Bramble, my least favorite due to the tartness. Also, I'm allergic to blackberries, though I like them.

This is the least interesting lineup of variants I can remember IMO.

I'm almost always underwhelmed by regular BCBS, to me its just another barrel aged stout and I really don't see the hype whatsoever. Variant wise is a different story, 2017 prop was great for example, but all the best variants imho that GI made happened 2014 and prior. Prairie, Firestone, The Bruery are great at what they do if you ask me

Are you talking about 2018 or the rumored 2019 lineup?

Why don't they just do a salted caramel double vanilla, aged in pappyz barrelz and charge $99.99 for it?

Seems like a no brainer to me.

    Yes.

Not sure how you couldn't be impressed by Vanilla, Orange, and Wheatwine. And Prop was incredible too.
