Has anyone tasted, made, heard of or tempted to make a Mead, Berliner Weisse or any beer style with Hostess products? Fruit Pie Mead, Twinkie Stout...come to mind.

Some hostess cupcakes in the secondary with a RIS would be pretty damned tasty.

No. Part of the reward of making my own beer is knowing what is in it, and avoiding artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives.

I agree, but the thought of anything involving Twinkies might insure that it is 'drinkable' well into the next century. Just saying...

I would think that all of the fats and oils would not do the beer any favors.

I agree...yet Short's Smore Stout, which I like, has milk chocolate and marshmallow fluff...too bad the video of Joe making of the first batch is no longer available online.

Compare and contrast the ingredients & fat content of cocoa powder/marshmellow cream and a Twinkie.

If you wanted to make something that tasted a little like it, you could probably do so with ingredients that would produce the flavor without using actual Hostess products. Probably the better way to go now, anyway, since I saw a friend post that boxes of Twinkies are now on e-bay for $100.

I am pretty sure certain fruit juices in a wheat beer could get you something like a fruit pie if you go heavy on the juice. Look for "red" flavor, for example.

Overdo the crystal malts so the beer is extra sweet and doesn't sit well in your stomach. Add a lot of artificial vanilla.

I'm just disappointed that the lyrics "all you frontin' rap singers, gets creamy like a Zinger, you ain't from the manger, boy, but you gets the middle finger" will make even less sense in a couple of years

    I love Zingers.

Dammit, just realized no more Zingers.

I'd wager that the sheer quantity of artificial garbage in Hostess products would ****** your fermentation. Unlike humans, yeast are smart enough to realize that just because something contains sugar, it doesn't mean it's edible.

People are so nuts. I'm fairly certain the Twinkie brand will be one of the first to be bought up by another snack company and they'll pump them out just the same. Unfortunately it probably will not happen soon enough, so these people selling boxes for $100 are going to capitalize off a bunch of dopes. But I digress.

Just talked with my friend Brett, he says he'd eat the shit out of some twinkies.

Haha, touche. Nothing sounds more appetizing than the taste of Twinkie with the bretted aromatics of blue cheese and rhino farts. ISO: Lambic & Twinkies.

I'm making a hostess beer and calling it backdoor brew, or maybe unionbreaker...
