Aside from the common things like listing bottle/can dates with the day first (DD/MM/YYYY), I know I've run into some dating "code" that was less than easily identifiable. Does anyone have examples of this? This is my most recent, which of course may not be dating at all, but if anyone understands this or other import dating, it would be an interesting read. This is Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier. In the black box on the label it looks like a time stamp, but above that means nothing to me. Thoughts? No date on these bottles? Other cool example you did or did not solve?
5 may rep the production or such? The next two probably week of year, last 8 maybe 2018. so 45th week of year 2018. The first 5 no idea. Pure guess
So close. You were right about it being the 45 week of 2018. The first 5 is for the day of that week that ends in 5, in this case the 15th of November.
Really?! Thanks for the tip! Based on what I've seen for the less popular styles at the beer store where I got this, I'm not surprised the beer had an unfortunate amount of age. Got to travel a little further for imports now.
I got a tip for a place closer to Seattle, but I'm sorry to hear that and won't get my hopes up I suppose!
Even a fresh seasonal like Oktoberfestbier has 3-5 months on it. For the regular mainstays, im seeing early 2019 around my way. Freshest there is unfortunately. Still quite good.
