A Friend didn’t kill a keg so he’s giving it to me. The keg was tapped last night. I have a homebrew set up with CO2 and faucets. I also have a commercial keg coupler. I’ve never messed with a commercial keg before. Can I simply remove the hand pump and insert the coupler? Then add CO2 to the desired PSI? Any advice or tips for removing and or setting up the keg coupler? Thanks, N00B.
From your description it sure sounds like air was used to maintain headspace pressure. Pretty sure you know the consequences of this. But thanks for the post . . . we're starving for activity on this Forum.
Yeah, oxidation. Keg needs to be back by Thursday so trying to crush it ASAP. Not sure if it’s the placebo effect but did get some note that I would say is slight oxidation. Not a lot but just enough to make the beer seem different than when it was fresh two days ago.
If you can't finish it, or if the beer's taste goes south, if you're a gardener just save the rest in any kind of container and use it for slug bait.
Keg kicked today. There wasn’t a lot. Got probably around 12 - 15 beers and all it cost me was some CO2.
