[IMG] Big thanks @jzeilinger for knowing I would dig this one. Poured into a 16 Great Divide thin Snulip, bottled on 1/14/19. Pours a very attractive near pitch black with a 3 finger dark tan head, with excellent retention and leaving a few thick waves of lace, poured at around 48 degrees perfect coffee stout temp. 4.5

Smell is vanilla bean, biscuit, cocoa nibs, and some dark roasty coffee. 4.25

Taste is a little more coffee forward, vanilla, cocoa, biscuity grain, and hints of hazelnut. 4.25

Mouthfeel is bigger than average, plenty of life for the style, a touch dry as you would expect, and at 8.4% the alcohol is hidden and very easy to drink. 4.5

Overall another stellar beer from Fat Heads, I am sure when fresh the coffee is bigger and bolder but still drinking great with over 5 months on it. Cheers all. 4.25

    Another day, another (HA) Bodem.
Stopped by my local taproom last night, since they had Cumbre's Project Dank (summer) on, and I still prefer Bodem. That was a bit of a surprise, but the Cumbre's latest hop blend was too tropical for me. Damn, this beer just gets me. Cheers!

Breakfast, lunch or anytime brew . . .

Clear red gold color with light color cap.

Clean aroma that's mostly malty with a hint of something darkish and sweet like cherry cola.

Nice low key flowing malt rich flavor that offers a hint of roasted malt without any bitterness or roast malt elements like coffee. Just a smooth darkness linked to the malt richness.

    Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

A good hit but not a home run, it's decent and enjoyable but not memorable.

It’s 7am, the dog has been walked and all the critters fed/medicated...coffee time - Peche Mortel:

Bottled 9/21/18. Black with no ruby edges. Thick dark tan mousse like head with some rocky bubbles; long cap retention; heavy ring and lacing; thin legs; perfection. 5.0

Strong coffee nose after 9 months; cocoa nibs. 4.5

Taste follows nose, add roasted coffee beans, and lite bitter sweet dark chocolate. 4.75

Medium body moderate carbonation; silky feel with a dry finish; very slight warmth from 9.5%. 4.25

Overall an awesome coffee stout; long lasting roast bitterness combined with semi sweet cocoa linger makes this eye-opener perhaps my favorite all time coffee stout. 4.5

I’m heading into San Fran later for a day of public transportation and sightseeing. Cheers and have a great day y’all!

Yeah, Peche Mortel and Sump are always jockeying for 1-2 (order or vice-versa) in my world of best coffee stouts. Reminds me I haven't had it in a while... hmm.... good drinking you've had out there lately. Did you retire out to the Left Coast, or you headed back to FL?

Morning, BAs! Vacation continues. Just made the kiddo and I some corned beef hash and eggs - a classic, easy, comfort food breakfast. Now sitting down with my last bottle of FBS (time to restock, I suppose).

The downside of FBS becoming available year-round is that I no longer feel compelled to buy a case at a time. Consequently, I never have any bottles aging. There are worse problems to have. :grinning:

    Cheers!

This is like medicine right now. This is a great stout, Trillium did a great job with the coconut here.

Short translation: '6 Lambiks from different casks and 5 different brewing processes. Oldest dating back to 24 th of march 2014, so it will be older than 5 years at the moment this bottle is issued'

Best before date is 2037 by the way. Amazing.

After a long walk along the coast town and the beach where I often hang out in the summer, I felt like Rochefort 8 was a nice reward...

Just some Milwaukee's best ice with lunch, in this case leftover cheese fries. There's a place in this world for cheap lagers.
