Have a nice holiday BA. Stay safe. I have to overhaul the apartment and get all my beer organized into my walk-in closet today and tomorrow. My family is coming up for the weekend. They have a hotel in Auburn Hills set up, but my Dad will be staying in my fermentation equipment bedroom, so I need to make some space.

6 year revisit. This was awesome as I remember. Fantastic head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, molasses, toffee, wood, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of vanilla, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, licorice, raisin, fig, date, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast earthiness. Light pine, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, bready, grainy malts; some syrupy, sticky hops, chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness; no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth, mild increasing warmth of 10.2%. Awesome balance between super rich malts and maple/birch syrup flavors; with nice earthy hop presence, and restrained fruity yeast. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Would get a pack. Spot on American Strong ale. 4.13

Wow, 3 threads created at the same time today.

Fantastic flavored stout. Amazing lasting fluffy head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, maple syrup, molasses, toffee, vanilla, cream, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, and dark/brown bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, wood, herbal, grass, pepper, pine, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; some sticky hops, chalky roast, and light slickness in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 10%, no lingering booze. Amazing balance of super rich black/roast/bready malts, maple syrup, and lactose; with balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast notes. Light residual sweetness with lingering hop/char bitter dryness. Spot on stuff for a dessert stout.

Amazing stuff! Got this in a NBS BIF a while ago, but got some more cans of it from someone else. 2016 vintage. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and spicy rye/bread; with lighter notes of molasses, raisin, cherry, red wine, smoke, leather, and tobacco. Touch of char and herbal hops. Some booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal/roast/char bitterness and bourbon/rye/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body. Very creamy/silky malt mouthfeel; with a fair amount of oak tannins and chalky roast. Lightly increasing bitter/tannin dryness; no acrid/astringency. Very smooth sipper; mildly increasing warmth of 11.2%, with very mild barrel booze. Very rich and complex malts with awesome barrel balance. Seems to be mostly bourbon barrel heavy; with the Rye whiskey and Cabernet coming out in the background. Really incredible.

Good day BAs! Looks like a pleasant day here in NW PA - at least it's starting out that way! Today's New Breakfast Beer:

An above average brew, as most German (non-mass) brews are. And yep, I've been getting a lot of average "meh" beers recently. Really, aren't most beers "average"? True, you can cherry-pick only the "best" brews based on crowd opinions, but where's the fun in that? As for pushing the season or "old" beers, if the brewer doesn't care enough to print the "bottle/canned/expires" date on the container, I rate them as to how they work for me when I drink them. Xin loi.

Incredible NEIPA. Aromas and flavors of big mandarin orange juice, lemon, lime, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, and light peppercorn/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness earthiness. Very mild pine, zesty, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; very creamy/bready wheat/oat mouthfeel, with slight sticky hops. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Minimal warming 7%. Super smooth/soft finish, and refreshing for the style. Spot on Amarillo, Mosaic, Citra profile. Amazingly juicy and lightly dank/earthy hop complexity; perfect wheat/oat/malt balance, not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Glad this is in distro now. Going to get more of this batch for sure. The previous batch was a bit more bitter/drying than this one.
