Back in the summer apartment after staying a tad more on the beach and the sky was getting cloudy. Couldn’t help myself and bought Chimay on my way from the Playa:

Excellent gose. Aromas and flavors of juicy/tart/tangy boysenberry, blackberry, raspberry, elderberry, strawberry, fruit skin/seeds, mango, peach, pear, apricot, lemon, lime, orange, red/green apple, red grape/wine, watermelon, bubblegum, kiwi, coriander, sea salt, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, toasted bread, biscuit dough malts; light peppercorn, lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and light spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, lactic acid, and some fruit tang/tannins, and light salinity in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness; no puckering. Very flavorful/refreshing, not overly lactic/salty, 5.3%. Awesome balance between juicy/jammy fruits, Lacto complexity, quinoa, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Glad I got the 6 pack as expected. Spot on stuff for the style.

Rich gold color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of ripe watermelon and that's about it. Nice aroma though, fresh, bracing and zippy.

Taste is surprisingly sharp at first, due in part to the sea salt I expect, followed by a richness of watermelon flavor. This is a difficult flavor to capture as anyone who's tried to make Watermelon Daiquiris can attest. Founders pulls it off here providing a sweet salty watermelon flavor resting on a simple grain base.

Light to medium texture with balancing carbonation.

I expect this will be pleasing to those who like the Gose style.

Getting through this Troegs pack pretty quickly. This Helles and Sunshine Pils are my picks and both very solid lagers. Cheers!

A late start for me this morning. It’s a little past 9am and the morning fog has finally lifted - Peche Mortel:

We’re going to take it easy again today. Tomorrow we may go into the City and explore the Haight/Ashbury neighborhood and shops. Have a great Friday y’all!

Only good thing about the takeover by Heineken (at least for me that is ..) is that more and more varaities ar widely available here (NL) now.

Thank you, but to be honest I don’t need to wait for any holidays to drink.
How it’s going in the Bay Area? It’s a good place to be too, beer or not.

Lagunitas are mostly good, and what you said. More available here unfortunately we aren’t getting their best brews.

This is a 50/50 base blend of Genetic Drift/Incipient. This was amazing. Solid head retention/minimal spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, guava, strawberry, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; lighter notes of peppercorn, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tart/sourness, Brett tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, lactic acidid, and some oak tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tannic/spicy dryness, no pucker/astringency. Super flavorful/refreshing, not overly lactic, 6.5%. An absolute perfect balance between Golden Sour and wild saison. Amazingly well rounded Brett, Bacteria, Saison yeast complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity, and solid overall oak presence. Grabbed more after I reviewed it. Still have a couple left.

We love it here...the cool sunny weather daily makes us question why we still live in SWFL...until we learn about the cost of living here! And the beer has been fantastic. Cheers!

Another hot and humid day here, so time to cool off while waiting for the grill to heat up. A bone in ribeye is just what the canine ordered!

That’s the main con about CA... while it’s a great state with quite some ressources and a wide range of beers - cost of living make it for (almost) everyone impossible to live or move there.

    Cheers!
