In my IPA induced state, I originally titled this "your favorite nature beer", but wondered who would actually respond with that title.

With that said....when you're out hiking or in the solitude of nature, watching a bubbling creek (or crick as we say here in MN), or enjoying a sunset, what's in your bag? (and yes, I know a sunset might call for a different beer than mid-day). Cheers!

My homebrew. I spend entire evenings staring into my fishtanks, which are natural looking and contain rare and wild specimens, whilst getting nicely sloshed on my latest monstrosity. Nature in your living room.

Walking around in autumn admiring foliage: Schlenkerla Marzen or Köstritzer in a thermos

Hiking in the beating summer sun: any Gose will do

Wintery night walks: Stone Xocoveza (canned, of course)

I enjoy nature when I sit on my screened back porch. I'll watch the deer, squirrels, rabbits, ground hogs, chipmunks or birds, whichever chooses to enjoy my back yard. To relax in that setting I'll sip any BBA stout from my cellar.

Marzen feels right sitting by the fire.

I don't drink when I hike, but any beer on my front porch (as in right now) will do just fine.

I would say the beer that is in your hand (or in your pack) is the best one to have.
To me it depends on the exact situation. A warm evening calls for a pale ale or IPA.
IF there is fire involved - fire pit, place or campfire, then a porter or stout works very nicely. (or Dunkel. I don't care for rauchbiers, but something with a touch of smoke like SN's Tumbler or Jack's Abby Smoke & Dagger go very nicely.)

Just like Dinty Moore stew is incredible when camping but no other time, any beer will taste great when roughing it.

I could see dining alfresco with a nice bottle of grisette at the ready. Does that count?

This is a great question. Really depends on the temp, but can't really go wrong with an IPA during any season.

I always drink Jester King Snörkel while snorkeling.

Although it's been a while since I've taken a brew along on a hike or kayak expedition (sorry, but the US SE rivals the NE neither in majesty nor temperate climate), I preferred to take one brew along per journey.

Maybe a wonderful Heady Topper while hiking, to be enjoyed while cresting a tall hill, halfway through the journey; or a Prairie saison early while kayaking.

I'm not picky, and I'm not particular, but the one rule I do have: the beer should enhance the experience. The experience itself is not an excuse for a beer, nor is a beer required. So if I'm going to drink while enjoying the great outdoors (other than fishing, in which case: game/fish on!!!), I'm likely limiting myself to a single, great beer.

Funny; I mostly drink salt water while snorkeling.

That’s 95% of Snorkel. Add a mushroom and you’re almost totally there.

Well now it seems like you're crossing the streams between amateur snorkeling and amateur mycology (and @cavedave surely approves of the latter). If it's the actual beer profile - salt water and mushroom - then I think I'll pass.

Haha I have no real preference when out in the woods, which is 3-5 days a week starting in May, but OP is definitely right, there is little better than sitting in some perfect spot and drinking in the beauty of existence with a tasty beer in hand
    I do indeed

When I read your post I pictured one of those hat/can combo beer delivery systems with the beer tube running down your snorkel.

If you walk into the wilderness of northern Wisconsin with a Central Waters barrel-aged concoction without a feeling of complete tranquility, then you may wish to try it again with another bratwurst. Sometimes it takes a couple a two, three, of them to be at one with nature.
