I'm lucky enough to have a job I can drink beer at sometimes. Unfortunately, today is not one of those days, but I have to say...if I close my eyes, this really almost does the trick. Good stuff.

Dissent Brewing IPA, great west coast style. Smaller brewery than all the Tampa/St Pete giants but a great tap list, staff and dog friendly vibe, highly recommended.

 

Transient, 2019 vintage. This was insane. Dense black pour. Poor head retention and no lacing as expected of the ABV. Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of licorice, molasses, raisin, fig, date, smoke, leather, tobacco, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very minimal booze in the aromas as it warms. Very mild herbal, grassy, roasted bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and super full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready malts; slight slickness, sticky hops, chalky roast, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Slightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Super smooth/soft, mild increasing warmth of 14.5%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Perfectly balanced between super rich malts, maple syrup, vanilla, fruity/nutty coffee, and Heaven Hill barrel presence/integration; mild earthy hops and fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. World class stuff as expected. Better than KBS. One of the smoothest stouts I've ever had for the ABV. 4.52
