There are plenty of CA traders who will practically be giving away FO in the next coming weeks. It'll be sitting on shelves throughout CA. Idk but they've been mass producing these beers and they haven't been the same. And boy that release party, if you like drinking good BA stouts in plastic cup in 100 degree weather standing up huddled underneath a portable gazebo, you're in luck.

 

I, for one, am stoked to grab bottles of both FO and NC. These were the first two beers that introduced me to craft beer and I'm thankful not to have to stand in line for them. With the higher limits, I'm looking forward to freely sharing these bottles with friends who I hope have the same experience that I did the first time I tried these. Cheers friends!

 

This is exactly what I’m talking about. It’s a phenomenal beer and people used to love being tortured in the hot sun to drink it. But now because it ain’t the new hot shit on the block, people find reasons not to be excited.

 

Nc went immediately unavailable for me. F5 right at 12:15. Unavailable. Luckily my other have caught one dropping out!

 

My reason to not be excited is the BL is churning out monthly BA releases and their consistency is not what it used to be. Last years FO release was just FO, this year I would say don't bother going the first weekend it's so unenjoyable with the heat, lines, and hoards of people. That and I have Modern Times and there's nothing I can't get at BL that MT doesnt do better now.

Anyone got any predictions for what the next "I don't need stouts from X anymore, Y does everything objectively better!" is going to be. I've lived through Bruery/Bottle Logic, then Bottle Logic/Modern Times, and can't wait to see what will replace Modern Times next!

 

I’m a big MT fan, but I gotta ask...has MT ever produced a BA stout on the same level as BL? Off the top of my head, I cannot think of one. Their IPA’s and core releases? Sure, I’d agree with you. But MT can miss me with their $33 stouts that are usually just decent at best.

 

Randomly off the top of my head: Ultra series. Date Shake. SoM: Island Vacation. Monster Tones. Bovine. SoM: Affogato. Xul. Espresso Macaroon. Chaos Grid. Dragon Mask.

Your history is quite a bit off since there wasn't really a Bruery/BL time. Bruery/AleSmith would be accurate as the original "hype", and then you'd hit post-FOb1 to spark the BL spike.

 

Agree to disagree I suppose. Best dark liquid produced by MT is their coffee IMO. Most recently, I had a can of dragon mask, it was so-so at best.

 

Stop drinking the cans and try their BA Stout bottles

 

I’m very hesitant to shell out for the bottles because I’ve been let down so many times in the past.

 

In the past meaning what? 3 years ago? Seriously they struggled early on (REALLY struggled I know - I still have a few cases of shitty BA stouts) but if you haven't had any of the new BA stouts from MT recently you're missing out.

 

The recent BA stouts that MT have been putting out are probably the best BA stouts you can get in California. They’ve really hit their stride and figured things out. There were a lot of missteps along the way to get to where they are, but trust me, try some of their newer bottles. You won’t regret it.

 

They’re cheaper per ounce than BL stouts, but may be tougher to get. If you get the chance, I’d recommend them. It’s hard to find the combination of quality and accessibility that BL has reached though.

 

I’m 3-4 miles from BL, so combine that with their fading position in the hype game, and you’re absolutely correct. Once MT gets their shit together and finally opens Anaheim, I may dip my toes back into their stout game.

 

You realize it isn't MT that is delaying the location opening, right? Sometimes you get stuck with a bad PC Engineer and there's little you can do...

 

Agreed, lemon squeezy
