Jan 2016 Blend 2. This was amazing. Great head retention/spotty lacing for the style. Love the color. Aromas and flavors of huge sour/tart/tangy blueberries, fruit skin/seeds, lemon, lime, peach, plum, cherry, cranberry, pear, apricot, red/green apple, currant, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; lighter notes of peppercorn, leather/musty Brett funk, red wine vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruit/lactic tartness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/grainy wheat, lactic acid, fruit tang, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tangy dryness; zero pucker/astringency. Super smooth, pretty refreshing, not overly lactic, zero warming 6.3%. Amazing balance of super jammy blueberries and Brett/Bacteria complexity; with great oak presence, and pale/wheat malts against acidity. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp acidic/tangy dryness. Another easy winner, aged amazingly for 3.5 years.

David or Sammy? Not this song, obviously. Your choice, overall.

Roughhouse Brewing (San Marcos, TX) Ona Farmhouse Amber from a bottle bought at the brewery. Best amber ale I have had, even from a bottle. If you find yourself in the Texas Hill Country, I highly recommend stopping at the brewery. Good food, great beer.

A palate killer for sure! Guess I'm done for the night. But it was an experience none the less.

Trying this one now. Even though I'm not a huge fan of NEIPA's, it doesn't stop me from trying them. It's hard to make out the date but it looks like 6/27/2019 bottle date. It tastes fresh and it tastes good. The juicy aspect is kept in check and it has a nice hop bite to it. Slightly tart with a bit of a tingle on the tongue from the carbonation. Actually a pretty decent take on the style, kind of bridging the gap between an old school IPA and a NEIPA. I like it.

Eddie Van Halen is a great guitarist but their music in both incarnations was hugely overrated. That Gary Cherone guy actually had a good voice but there was no way anyone was going to take that seriously. I thought I saw someone mention Van Halen and I assumed everyone wanted my opinion.

Soft golden yellow body; plenty of carbonation, slowly rising; thick and billowy head. Initial aroma hit of white wine, fades to a soft and mellow light grain scent; oats; white oak. Incredibly complex and subtle flavors; oak and light grains; a touch of wildness and funk; caramel and toasted light brown sugar; a touch of hop bitterness; bright alcohol presence. Heavy body; thick, velvety and grainy; dense residual sugars; light and soft alcohol dryness.

This beer is incredibly complex. It has all the characteristics of a pale ale and white ale with a touch of wildness or a very subtle yet integral bit of woody barrel aging. What is interesting is that this beer has been sitting around my local beer emporium for a while. God alone knows why I haven't glommed onto this beauty before, but I'm snatching up more of these while I can. A truly outstanding beer!

My girlfriends always liked VanHagar. The one I married likes Van Halen.

As for Van Halen III? We have at least one beautiful piece of music that came out of that disaster:

Overrated? Laughable. VH1 coming out in 1978 was epic.

    Case closed.
