Unfortunately it will sit on the shelf and get old. So get your fill on that first distro run. That beer is a gem.

 

After a scorcher this past weekend this is very welcome tonight as we cool down into the mid to upper 50's.

Union Craft Brewing - Bling Universe IPL

 

Excellent. Aromas and flavors of big lightly tart/tangy pineapple, mango, melon, coconut, guava, berries, peach, pear, red apple, white grape/wine, peppercorn, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; light musty Brett funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruit tang/tartness, and Brett spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, medium body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and fruit tang/acids in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acid/tangy/spicy dryness; no cloying/pucker. Very flavorful/refreshing, no warmth of 6.4%. Great big juicy fruit presence, with solid Brett complexity; and a great balanced wheat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with crisp drying. Impressive semi-wild fruit beer all around. No complaints. Not overwhelming on any aspect.

Re RMD and taxes, and probably taxes before one hits RMD - you would know better than me. But from what I gather if one owes federal tax dollars they can choose to funnel those funds to a qualifying organization rather than the Feds. Our local library is getting my money.

 

Another Central State NEIPA. Excellent stuff. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, lemon, lime, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, mango, melon, passion fruit, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, dill, coriander, green tea, peppercorn, pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; balanced creamy/bready/grainy malt/oats, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, nicely soft, not aggressive, minimal warming 6.8%. Great Amarillo, Sorachi Ace, Citra, Cascade, Simcoe profile. Very juicy, vibrant, dank, and earthy hop complexity; with a great balanced clean oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Pretty unique with the Sorachi Ace addition, but still works really well with the other hops.
