Not sure why the variety pack you bought did not have a date, but there should be one. I have attached an image to show where you should be able to find the date.

Sometimes the date can rub off, or the dater could have just missed it. In is certainly our intent that it should have a date on it. If you send me a follow up e-mail to [email protected] I would be happy to arrange a gift card for you.

That being said, the beer is well within our 6 month code and we stand by the quality of the product. We store cans of every packaging at room temperature and sample them at 30,60,90+ days to monitor the quality of each batch over time. We believe this beer should be considered fresh.

Ultimately, the decision is yours, which is why there should be a date stamp. I am sorry that we failed in this instance and hope to make it right.

Thanks so much for this; one of the reasons I love you guys. Already had tossed the box over the weekend, but good to know where I should be looking in the future. I'll assume I just missed it, this certainly shows me where to check in the future.

Gift card is 100 percent unnecessary -- the quick response is worth way more than that to me. Thanks again!

Don't look a gift card in the mouth...or something.

Never been to JA before. Wife & some friends going tonight for my bday. How hard is getting a table on Saturday night around 7:30?

I’m usually there on a weekend around 4-5 for an early dinner with the kids. By the time I’m leaving an hour+ later it’s pretty packed. The communal seating in the Hall helps as smaller groups don’t occupy a full table. I honestly don’t know if you can put your name down if there’s a wait since I’m all about the blue hair dinner hour. Regardless - excellent, large space to quaff beers so hopefully any wait time goes quickly.

Could be a challenge, but the good news is you don't need a table to get beers. Wear comfortable shoes.

Well we went for food also so DO need a table for that. But our party of 4 got there about 8pm & there was plenty of space to sit. Had some excellent pizzas, excellent beers, and played some games at Springdale. It was fun. Will be heading back I'm sure.

My wife is riding with the Jack's Abby team in the MS150 race. Met up with her yesterday at the Jack's Abby tent at Mass Maritime and was able to spend a few minutes talking with Sam Hendler. It's a great thing that they are doing to raise money to fight MS. I like the beer even more now.

So is Gold & Grain a rebranding of Dinkel Herb or a distinct recipe? Nice beer.

Yes, it is. Saw some fresh cans in NJ today packaged on 6/20/19. Picked up a 15 pack of House Lager for the holiday weekend instead, but might go back and get some next week.

Just finished the last pint can of a 4-pack, reviewed it on Saturday. Big fan of the series, the bitter spelt (dinkel herb) adds a bitter wheat-like flavor to Gold & Grain.

My question is, is this an unfiltered pilsner, maybe Post Shift or is it based on one of their American Lagers?
Its not to hoppy so I'm thinking Pils.

All of their keller series is unfiltered.

Given that Gold & Grain is made with spelt and Aurora hops, I would guess that it is a unique recipe and not closely based on one of their other recipes. Probably not a well-defined style example either as I don't think there are many (or any) that use spelt. They just call it a golden lager, and given that they used to call it Dinkel Herb, I would also guess that it's more in the mold of a European style lager.

    Thanks.
Spelt use in beers seams to be more common lately. Some beer labels state spelt is in use, I think many brewers use it and don't say so.

Euro Pale Lager might be the call, it would be nice to know what style Dinkel Herb was called by J.A. back in it's day.

Stylistically Gold & Grain would be closest to a Pilsner with Spelt added. I do not believe we have ever called it a specific style other than kellerbier, which is a very broad category.

Thanks, my Pilsner guess was right. That's three rights so far this year, a its barely half over.

@JacksAbbyBrewing thanks for sending your beers to CO. They fill a pretty big hole in our area. Are the drops we are seeing quarterly? Just curious more than anything. Heavy Trommel arrived pretty fresh while we just received maibock hurts like helles. Regardless it's the first maibock that I have seen on my local shelves and it's fantastic. Keep up the great work!
