    I’m jealous of your Schlenkerla! We get some here, but they’re always so expensive that I rarely pull the trigger. Smoky goodness.

    We call them cookies, the British call them biscuits. So in the interest of trans-Atlantic relations I'll have both.

    A nice round flavor, the oatmeal cookie comes across well, without being overly sweet or cloying, under a very good brown ale. An excellent choice when you don't want something as heavy as a breakfast or dessert stout.

    Jet-black body; thick, creamy head; sticky rings of foam step down the glass. Outstanding olfactory blend of caramel, vanilla, cocoa; a sense of dark roasted coffee. Exquisite flavor mixture; heavy sweetness immediately turns into a mild cherry flavor and bourbon barrel presence; milk chocolate and cocoa; dark roasted grain char; finishing with a cherry and chocolate sweetness. Heavy body; thick and velvety; sludgy; amazing residual sugar texture; alcohol heat counterbalancing the overall sweetness.

    What a monster of a beer! The brewery has done a fine job of balancing the flavors and mouthfeel elements. It is always a pleasure (and a rarity) to have such a high ABV beer sporting a luxurious and lasting head. It's a cliché to note beers as having depth, balance, and complexity, but, damn, if this beer doesn't meet those descriptors. Outstanding!

    Le Negra by Cumbre. Great stout. Great choice after an 8 mile run. Everyone needs an outlet, and I'm glad I found mine. When men don't, yikes.
