Looks like Steve trolling around in that pic. I can smell that room just by looking at the old menu board. I see the allotment was 4 PP here, and DO NOT RE-SELL THAT BEER ! Or Pat would hunt you down and ban you forever ! LOL

Yes, that smell when you walked in. Like in Hop Heaven.

I would do a lot of illegal things to have the chance to sit down at the bar with a snifter of Nelson and some fried pickle chips.

All of us old timers who’s visited ABC pub missed it. That was so cool being up in the hills and looking like an old shack with the brewery at the other end. Paper plates and plastic utensils. $5 pours of The Big 3. Even less during happy hour. Damn.

Seems like it'd fit in this thread as its somewhat random, but I found myself a few weeks ago at a brewery next to Pat and had a few pints with him. Good dude.

So it looks like Keene Idea is being released soon - per Alpine’s Instagram. I don’t think the needle moved much when Expo was released earlier this year. Will Keene do it?

I think palate's have shifted with regards to a malty oaked heavy boozy AF TIPA. Keene being Nelson dominate was always one of my favorites and since it's being brewed at the tiny OG brewery I'm going to take a chance on a couple.

    Cheers,

I enjoyed the "DuHop." Solid BBQ sauce down there as well.

I’m looking forward to this one. I haven’t had a chance to pick up any cans but I’ll be sure to grab some for the weekend.

I just did a side by side with White Dog and Nelson. Sadly, both my wife and I felt White Dog was amazing, while Nelson just tasted like a Green Flash fail. Time to move on, although I am intrigued by the KI release.

This post intrigued me to go buy a 4 pack. That is until the clerk told me it was trash and not to buy it. I settled on 2 cans instead. It’s definitely a good beer. Nothing like OG Nelson, but I guess it’s a bit similar to modern Nelson. Light, golden, baby rye/malts... Nothing special.

There's nothing sad about good, hoppy beers from ESBC.

There’s a lot of great ipa’s from ESBC. I believe they are still one of SoCals best. Just my opinion. I buy fresh Mayberry and Hammerland in bottles. They are one of the best west coast IPA’s. They don’t need to brew hazy ipa’s. There’s too many hazy’s out there already. Yes I love the haze but west is still the best. And Beachwood and ESBC still puts out some of the best west coast style out there. :stuck_out_tongue:....

Randomly in Vegas we’ve gotten Bad Boy and High Kicks recently. I like a boozy, west coast ipa and these hit the spot. Not mind blowing but definitely both have been worth the purchase.

Thats cool. I remember when Bad Boy used to be a big release back in the day, and just randomly this last week it was on tap at my local deli in OC - with no fan fair. High Kicks is a new beer we got bottles of last week. I liked it too.

Nelson remains my favorite beer to date. I friend drove cases directly across the US from Alpine 8-9 yrs ago.

    This thread saddens me.

The Keene Idea cans that were released recently taste like old Alpine. I haven't had anything like that for a long time. It's very, very good.
