Excellent fruited pale lager. Aromas of big juicy/lightly tart/tangy cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, and citrus zest; with moderate cracker, white bready malts; and light herbal, grassy, peppery hops. Light fruit tang/tartness and herbal/grassy/zesty bitterness on the finish. Medium-high carbonation, light-medium body, and moderately crisp/clean finishing. Some bready/grainy malts and light fruit acidity/tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Increasing carbonated and tart/tangy fruit dryness. No puckering. Super flavorful/refreshing, 4.7%. Perfectly clean lagering, no yeasty notes. Very impressive, amazing summer beer. Very juicy/jammy cherries and vibrant limes; with balanced clean pils malts, and mild earthy hops. Just got a fresh pack. Love this stuff.

Back from a week long road trip that took us through Philadelphia (it's weird being a tourist in your own hometown), Cooperstown (see notes on Stash from Ommegang below) and Ricketts Glen State Park... Had to cut our trip a night short as tent camping in severe thunderstorms wasn't high on our list...

The haul from Ommegang included four packs of Nirvana IPA, Pale Sour, Brut IPA, Abbey Ale, Saison Rose, and Saisontraminer... Also brought back 750mls of Barrel Master Grand Cru, Super Kriek and Zen & Zymurga...

Now that I'm settling in for the evening, I'm being wowed by a Fantome Pissenlit an listening to Basieland by Count Basie... Cheers...

    Yeah.... conspicuously in absentia.

We just decided on that for my wife and she is really good about taking care of phones...but we have replaced 3 screen protectors in 3 months with routine bumps. 3a is flimsy and is too flexible, unlike the 3 which is much more solid.

My Moto G5 Plus is holding up better, all aluminum...way more rigid.

And P.S. I lied. No more beers. The Botanist rules.

It is waaaayyyy better than the Hayman's.

    Cheers!

Hello, hello, BAs! Been a downright wretched summer here on the front range. It's been upper 90s/100s for so many days, I've stopped counting. Yeah, yeah, I know about the midwest and east coast, but what you need to understand is that out here we don't have miles of cloud cover to shield us from the sun AND somehow as the temp starts creeping above 95, it gets windy, which one would think would make it feel cooler, but one would be hideously and horribly wrong because in fact it is as though you are being stalked by a maniacal, giant hair dryer that wants nothing more than to suck the last bit of moisture from your body and leave you like a pile of sawdust. So, enough with the weather. When I saw this offering from La Cumbre in the cooler, I lunged at it. 1. Nelson hops are my desert island hops and 2. I've never had a bad beer from LC. This is very good. I do wish that the DIPA sweetness was dialed back a bit to let the Nelson shine a bit more, but still a great beer. Cheers!

This summer has been particularly hard on poor Max. It's so hot, we haven't had a proper walk since June. His svelte little body has become alarmingly rotund. When I lived in Chicago, I would walk him late at night or very early in the morning, but lucky, lucky us, we have a teenage brown bear who has taken up residence in our 'hood. Max is exactly the perfect "amuse bouche" size for a hungry bear, so no walks in the dark for us. Here he is, your moment of Zen, in all his delightfully weird, grass-loving glory.

My screen protector has come up on the bottom corners but I also originally put it on upside down. Mostly deadspace there so I just leave it. Doesn't bother me.

Get Max a coolsuit or build one out of Thundershirts and Ace freezer cool bags so you can walk him in hot weather on greenspaces. Just be careful of non-grass areas and bring collapsible bowls and lots of water.

As for Colorado, you need bear spray or other .429 inch like deterrents if you're going to be in their new home.

Well, I think I've confirmed I don't care for Grisettes with this last brew from Matchless.
Thinning a Belgian Saison leads in general to thin tartness with no purpose or redeeming quality.

    Well now I know.

Still in Cincinnati for tennis, back at the hotel after 9 hours of matches on a beautiful day in Southern Ohio, time for a beer. This is Cheetah, an American Lager from Rhinegeist. A really nice summer crusher.
