I know that this will come off as sarcastic and snarky, but, I truly do not mean it as such:

Dude, there are so many breweries operating these days, and a vast majority of them are putting out so many new beers on the regular, that it's nearly impossible to try them all.

Start with your local breweries, bars, and stores; drink what interests you. Expand out as fits you.

    Have fun!

Homeboy - tell us what you like, or maybe what you are searching for. When I hit a dating app, I put in that I like buxom brunettes and I go from there.

    Cheers!

    Because, internet.

Look, costs us nothing to give the new folks the benefit of the doubt, and try to be helpful. If we're wrong, all it cost us was some electrons.

Spend some time lurking in the NBS thread. (New Beer Sunday) The whole purpose of that thread is for folks to gather and tell others about their chosen new beer for the day. They general talk about what the beer looks, smells and tastes like and some even also do a review for the database here.

Also click above on "Beers" and follow the link to Beer styles. There you'l find a listing of lots of new styles of beer. Almost every beer you could imagine falls into one of those styles and there is, up front, a description of the general info abou the style and what to expect. If you decide to dig further there is a list of all the beers listed on here in that style. There's also a red link to the most highly rated of that style. You can use that list when you go shopping. Most will not be found in your area but there are bound to be a few you can find. Try one or more and if they work for you...

    Repeat as often as desired.

Let me reinforce @beertunes comment. You are being too suspicous up front.

Begin assuming a new poster is like you once were, a new kid looking for advice.

A real troll is typically going to do something more provocative than just ask for ideas.

    Wut?

I'm taking OP at face value. He didn't give us much to work with in his request, and, there are so many breweries and beers out there these days that my response was the best I could do.

Agreed. I’ll give the OP the benefits of the doubt but truthfully hope she returns with some more thought about her taste in beer.

Not all troll act the same, they’re the obvious ones and the more clever one... thread is valid but looking forward more replies.

Sorry, a lot of new threads (especially introduction) seem like they were made by the same person/similar styles

Never even looked at it. When I see the gray box, it just doesn't register.

Plus, everybody is "dude" to me. Shrug.

Let's get back to trying to help dudette.

Yep, been done. Seen it before. We'll probably see it again.

But when and if one takes a new persons first post at face value....

Ahh, another new usage for the term emerging. Much like saying "Hey Guys" to a group of women. Interesting.

(Just shaking your branch a bit.)

Welcome aboard! You might want to check out the Beer 101 page. There's lots of info there on beer styles (among other things). Then go to a bottle shop that offers a mix-a-six option and pick out a few that pique your interest.

    (Edit: I missed @drtth's post above.)

Although it would be tough make specific recommendations, Sierra Nevada offers excellent brews of a wide variety of styles. Also, you should start seeing Oktoberfest beers showing up before long.

    Good luck!
