Deschutes Fresh Squeezed (When Fresh). I think this is a bad ass beer when you find them fresh, flavor and feel is perfect and the price is very nice.

    Lagers and Pale Ales.

Just because they have milder flavors they get no respect.

I drink a lot of beer styles, but this was one of the first craft beers I had in Cali and I think it is way underrated. Yes it comes in a small can but it's a good concept considering you get the same ABV as some lower ABV IPAs.

From what I understand it is now brewed in Cali due to turmoil in Nicaragua so not sure if the size is a carry over or not.

Totally agree when fresh, it’s really a great beer. It’s never fresh here, but I had it in Tacoma on tap and it’s first rate.

    Why?????

They are beer, just different than all the pastry haze food infused crap out there.

I always think of AAL when folks say “I don’t like beer”.

I grew up on AAL, went hard into craft for 30 plus years and have gone back to AAL the last few years. I enjoy other beers too but AAL is under rated.

    Enjoy

Because they're so far removed from the craft ales we've grown accustomed to. Its hardly fair to put them head to head. I can "rate" them more objectively if I separate them the same way I do Bourbon vs Scotch. Yes, I know its not 100% accurate, but its a mind trick that works for me, and there are advantages to having at least two "beer palates"

Didn't that used to come in a clear bottle? I wonder if the older reviews have lower scores that bring down its overall rating because so much of it was skunked.

I think winter warmers don't get their fair shake. Summit's Winter Ale is one of my near-perfect beers and it's something like a 3.75 on here. I'll almost always take a winter warmer over a stout.

I think it's format/location dependent. Pilsner Urquell Tank beer in the Czech/fresh at a Tank bar elsewhere in Europe is near flawless, I completely agree. Out of the can/bottle (pasteurized and filtered) it's still good, but a pretty significant drop off from the Tank beer. Can/bottles in the US... usually a shell of fresh Tank beer, but still good and better than most other pilsners in the States.

I completely disagree on Boon Framboise. As a lambic fan, I find Boon Framboise too sweet, lacking in funk and complexity, and doesn't have a great finish compared to Cantillon, 3F, or De Cam. That said, I'm also not a fan of Oud Beersel Framboise and Girardin for the same reason. Lindemans is backsweetened, Hanssens is usually to acidic. So I'd probably go De Cam is the most underrated.

Pony is an alright pilsner, but I think the 3.77 score is where it belongs.
Unibroue 17 I might need to revisit. I had a 2011 vintage recently that did not age well at all (I expect a BSDA to hold up to age).

I haven’t had the chance to have the lambics noted in your reply, but I will try to score these down the road, thanks for your reply.

I’m new to this style, but enjoyed the two I have had to date.

I'm drinking an Abita Pecan Ale and I'd have to say that Abita in general is very underrated. Their Hop On hazy pale ale/IPA is awesome and it's 7.99 (like most of their beers in my area). All of their seasonal fruit beers actually taste like they were brewed with fruit and not sickeningly sweet.
IDK I feel like they're overlooked

Michelob.. executed almost perfectly to style. I’d believe scores would be higher if it weren’t brewed by one of the big boys.

I agree, there’s not a flaw to the beer, and if the brewers name influences the score the reviewer missed on his review.
