They only post 6pk or 4pk prices and I haven't seen anyone actually purchase a single can, but never hurts to ask.

Budget issues are real, but my advice is to buy more than you think you want at Hill. Several times I have bought only a small amount of some beer there that I thought sounded just okay, only to find out when I got home that it was amazing and I wish I had 3 more. Call it non-buyer’s remorse. Everything they do is just so good, you’ll often be pleasantly surprised when you take a chance.

I know, HF is the place I'm looking forward to going the most on the trip. I do plan on stocking up but I also want to stock up at Foam and Alchemist, among others. Don't have a beer fridge at home so it's going to get pretty tight.

Unfortunately for him, he's not going until the middle of October so he'll miss this batch.

Haha, whoops. Okay, so if they have Double Citra when you DO go, same advice. K, thx.

Both excellent. Comes down to hop preference IMO. Or hope for a new batch of Society and Solitude #4. My favorite hoppy beer. The combination of the two.

Had the same conundrum myself many times. Every single time I always kick myself for not getting more HF and less of everything else. I personally don’t get all the Foam hype but others seem to love it.

For one thing, Foam is open later than most breweries and seems like a good spot to be while in Burlington for the night. I've had a couple of their offerings and thought they were really solid. Hitting BBCO too cause it's on the way from Stowe.

I will not take the advice lightly. HF is going to cost me a lot while I'm there. I'm really hoping for a stout or too for at least a growler fill, if not, bottles to take home.

@TreeHouse_Erection don't forget Blackback Pub in Waterbury on your Alchemist day. CBC Waterbury is right across the street and worth a look if you have a couple minutes and haven't spent the budget yet. CBC also fills growlers and has some great stuff once in a while

I'm in the same boat. I like going to Foam, but I haven't liked any of their hoppy stuff to the extent that I would want to take it home. I haven't been there for a House of Fermentology release though.

Hill...I always want as much of the hoppy beers and lagers as I can drink while still fresh.

Basically what Matt said, but I like DC way more than DG. Just personal preference. It's the perfect Double IPA in my opinion.

The perfect higher abv hoppy beer to me is abner. Doesn’t get better than that. Just grab a growler or two. Just my opinion but I didn’t see any abner love yet for hops so had to through it out there.

Their beers aren’t like Treehouse where the yeast esters dominate pretty much everything. Nor are they like Trillium where you literally never know what you’re gonna get anymore. They are great expressions of the hop variety themselves, and especially as of late, they get great hops. You like Citra? You’ll like their Citra beers. You like Galaxy? You’ll like their Galaxy beers. To me they seem to use a bit more restraint with the dry hopping so they’re not hop sledge hammers like so many others and they actually have enough bitterness to balance things out.

Completely agree with everything you said. But how dare you leave out “You like Nelson?...” Double Nelson is absolutely incredible as well. I couldn’t agree anymore with what you said about restraint with dry hopping. Their ipas actually still taste like beer rather than pineapple orange puree smoothies.

Society & Solitude #6, which focuses on Mosaic, is the best Mosaic focused beer I've ever had and it's not even close. Honestly, all of their beers that feature a single hop are better than anyone else's features of that hop. At least in my experience and opinion.

I agree with the both of you. For me, when it comes to the use of a single hop in a beer, no one does it better than Hill. It's showcased, but not overdone. The result is usually impeccable.
