can I be the third to agree here, just overly sweet to me and not something I enjoy.

I get the pastry stout hate, and I really am not the biggest fan of most of them. Although some aren't too overly sweet and hit all the flavors they try to, which is nice. However, how much of a step is really in between these beers and Sunday/Mexican brunch which most people lose their shit over? Neither of those beers are overly sweet, and we don't know what these will be like, but is it really THAT much of a jump from Brunches to this or something like Shell Game or Holy Nights, which people were losing their shit over as well?

    Crucify me, go ahead lol

I very much liked Holy night but shell game was not for me.. I think sometimes when there are nuts and marshmellows that sometihng happens that is a turn off for me historiacally .

I wasn't a fan of Shell Game really, but I have been a fan of other stouts with nuts. The marshmallow thing for me seems to add too much sweetness but we will see what happens here I guess

Ok we got all the criticism out of the way. That being said, there will be a huge line at opening on Saturday.

The marshmallow Port Omna this past year was pretty disastrous, IMO. I just hand another can a few nights ago and it isn’t very good at all; borderline drainpour-status for me. Loved Chunky monkey, though. I’m not the biggest pastry stout fan like the rest of you but they have their time and place I suppose.

All that said, if I were in the area I’d probably grab a bottle or two of those pastry stouts despite being well aware of the gimmickry. I’ll be using that money for Suarez this weekend

my wife wants to go to the beach tomorrow so this may work out. i also don't understand why they release stuff like this when its august though. i really like a good amount of their stouts/porters including silent nights but not sure how i feel about these. might hit the beach and roll by later hopefully they will have some additional cans too and mb i'll pick up a bottle of each if there's any left. we are lucky though that kane does so many styles so well but I wish these both weren't what sound to be super sweet and decadent.

I feel the same way about the marshmallow port omna this year. I had half of one and was done. The marshmallow is definitely giving me pause in terms of the quantity i want. That being said there is no lactose added. That was the second big mistake of port omna and took away from all versions this year in my opinion. I am hoping the marshmallow sans lactose will be tolerable. In the end i am trusting to kane. However undecided about whether i get one or two bottles of each so far.

I actually didn't find the marshmallow to be very successful either, I rated it pretty low for a Kane beer considering how much I love all their stuff. Wonder what it was and hope they found a new method for this new marshmallow beer.

    Wut?

You sit on stouts released year round by a stout powerhouse??

Nah fam stout season is 24/7/365.

If you can't drink stout in 60*+, you can't be trusted.

Will the next reviewer please stand up.

Aging and cellaring non-lambics is for amateurs.

HAHA 1)ummm yep but they also make great beers of all types. too much great beer too little time. 2) i would cut that to a little shorter 3) i can but generally choose not to in the hottest 3 months of the year tho i did have a 2555 there last weekend 4) i keep most of my stuff in a full beer fridge so prob doesn't really count as cellaring, some of the leftover mex brunch from last year was delicious and really hasn't faded too much imo.

most of my stuff sitting not in a fridge is in fact lambics and spontaneous stuff (3F, Cantillon, Plan Bee, Referend, HF farmhouse ales, though admittedly there is some kane that couldn't fit in said beer fridge)

@Sabtos if you want some kane stouts all u got to do is trade with a few of us in nj man. tho it does seem like you get ur hands on their stuff a fair amount.

I was talking to one of the guys who works at Kane and usually give solid advice on how stuff turned out. he did say it was quite sweet and you'd have to share it, so i'll pass that's along for what its worth.

I actually find stout in the summer sun to be surprisingly refrshing, even after a run or a ride. The only beer style I am more likely to sit on until winter is barleywine, but it's not a hard rule.

I have had a friend cellar a Sunday Brunch, and I myself unintentionally cellared one longer than I wanted, and in both cases, while still wonderful, I overall regretted it. Sunday Brunch is a religious experience fresh, and in general I have had few stouts that have truly improved over time.

I always want to try a big limited stout as fresh as possible, and only if I had multiples do I sit on them, and even then I try to keep it to six months max anymore.

    Too many REGERTS!
