I'm up and ready but make it a point not to drink any beer until after I walk the dogs and that will be another hour or so.

Good morning BAs. Starting off the morning with some juice. Quite tasty and pairs well with breakfast. Cheers!

 

Chores done it's me time . . .




Slightly hazy orange gold color with white cap.

Aroma of ripe fruits, banana and pear, with a dusting of allspice and clove.

Taste is a simple combination of the elements in the scent with fruit prominent followed by spiciness. Don't notice hops except for a wisp in the aftertaste. Can't really say I get grain presence either except perhaps in body presence.

 

Good day BAs! Was up at 0610 but went back to the rack until 0730 - was up later than usual last night talking to my brother in TX, planning our next trip to SAT. Today's New Breakfast Beer is one of the few I've found that is actually worth the price:



A beautiful Impy Stout – wonderful appearance, great bouquet, delicious, velvety feel - worth the price as few really are.

Have a nice Saturday BA. Slept in today. Feeling a lot better and my hand is not as weak/numb as it was yesterday all day.

Fantastic batch this year. Aromas and flavors of huge raisin, plum, fig, date, peach, pear, apricot, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, biscuit, and brown bread/crust; with light notes of molasses, milk chocolate, cocoa, oak char, leather, tobacco, peppercorn, and yeast earthiness. A bit of booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Light herbal, grassy, peppery hop bitterness; and bourbon/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, rich malts; light slickness, sticky hops, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness, no cloying/astringency. Dangerously smooth sipping, mild increasing warmth of 13.1%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Perfect balance of super rich malts, fruity yeast, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Not overly boozy, tannic, or drying on the barrels. Already grabbed plenty more, a real shelf beer this time around. Super easy to find. English Barleywines are my favorite style.

Lagunitas / Short's - Fluxed In Paradise. Fantastic DIPA. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, coconut, guava, red apple, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, mint, cedar, peppercorn, and pine hops; with balanced wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness; and yeast spiciness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy hops in the mouthfeel. Moderate increasing bitter resin dryness; no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 8.5%. Fantastic Sabro, Cashmere, Southern Passion hops; and Kviek yeast profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, dank, earthy hops with fruity/spicy yeast; and a nice bready malt bakcbone. Mild residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. Really impressive all around.

Ellison Mosaic Evolution. Incredible NEIPA. Fresh batch from last month. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, orange juice, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, berries, citrus peel/zest, and light pepper/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honeyed malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, grassy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body; creamy/bready malts; light sticky hops and slight resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness. Super smooth/soft finish, minimal warming 6.75%. Amazing Mosaic showcase as expected. Love it even more than the Citra version. Feels softer overall. Extremely juicy, and fairly dank/earthy hops; great wheat/oat/malt balance, light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Spot on stuff, glad it's in distro now rotation-ally. Hope to see more single hop varieties soon.
