La Trappe Quadrupel. One of the best in the genre... and probably my favorite beer from The Netherlands:

Have a nice Sunday BA. Been a good Holiday weekend so far. Got a lot of errands to run today.

Early morning big beer review. The Bruery BBA 5 Golden Rings. 11/20/2013 dated. This was excellent. Poor head retention/minimal lacing as expected. Aromas and flavors of huge lightly tart/tangy pineapples, peach, plum, fig, date, pear, apricot, red apple, white grape/wine, honey, candi sugar, vanilla, bourbon, coconut, toasted oak, and white bread dough; with lighter notes of caramel, toffee, cinnamon, ginger, peppercorn, clove, allspice, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Light cinnamon, ginger, peppery yeast, bourbon/oak tannin spiciness; and fruit tang/tartness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation and medium-full body. Very creamy, silky, bready malts; light slickness, sticky spice, oak tannins, and fruit tang/acids in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering spicy/tart/tangy dryness; no cloying/astringency. Smooth/soft sipper. Light increasing warmth of 16.2%, and mild lingering barrel booze after the finish. Awesome balance between rich malts/sugars, spices, Belgian yeast, and bourbon barrel presence/integration. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. Significant improvement over the base beer review I did in 2014. My palate has changed a lot since then, so who knows if I would feel the same about it today. This aged really well otherwise. 4

Speciation DNAIPA. Incredible Sour IPA. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, red/green apple, white grape/wine, peppercorn, pine, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bread dough malts; light musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness, Brett Tang; and pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Very creamy, bready, grainy malts; some sticky hops, acids/tang; and light resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter/tart/tangy dryness; no pucker/astringency. Very smooth/soft, pretty refreshing, not overly lactic, zero warming 6%. Amazing Denali, Nelson & Azacca profile. Very juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; balanced Brett/Bacteria complexity; with a great wheat/oat/malt backbone against acidity. Light residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Loved this a lot, got a full pack last week.

Good day BAs! Another foggy morning - fall is definitely here. Yesterday worked out well - made a batch of RIS - it's bubbling away. This was the first time I've brewed with 500mL of yeast starter and am suitably impressed. Somewhere I have a couple one L Erlenmeyer flasks that I'll use with the next batch, assuming I can find them. My fruit fly drinking buddy is back, and he approves of today's New Breakfast Beer, the last remaining new beer from @jdell15 and NBS BIF #9:

Austin Brothers Steve Murkel. This was incredible. Opaquely hazy green color. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge mandarin orange juice, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, guava, blueberry, gooseberry, citrus peel/zest, wood, and light peppercorn/pine hops; with moderate wheat, biscuit dough, light honey/toasted malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Mild pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body. Very creamy, silky, bready malts; light sticky hops, and slight lingering resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringency. Amazingly smooth/soft, minimal warming 6.7%. Amazing Citra, Mosaic, Idaho 7 profile. Extremely juicy, vibrant, and lightly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced wheat/oat/malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering dryness. One of their best yet.

Happy Sunday BA's! The hurricane prep has apparently come to a close. Four hours work complete and bathroom cleaned. Enjoying the last of the Smiling Nut while awaiting the start of the Belgian F1 race. Terrible loss of F2 driver Anthoine Hubert at 22 yrs old. Godspeed to his family, at least he was doing what he loved and not some random shooting. Carpe deim folks...

Attractive ruby red gold color with good cap and lacing.

Aroma of burnt toffee, cocoa, light coffee, dark chocolate, a wisp of oak and something like a Bourbon/cola highball.

Taste brings more roasted malt flavor but that could be barrel char. Simple flavors that reflect the scent yet are not as intense as in the scent. The parts don't really quite meld here but the overall effect is pleasant enough. An interesting approach that seems to be steered more by marketing than an attempt to create something unique.

Stone Aggro Agronomist. This was awesome. Aromas and flavors of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, coconut, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing resin dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, not overly aggressive, minimal warming 7%. Awesome Citra, Sabro, HBC 692 profile. Extremely vibrant, juicy, dank, and earthy hops; with a great clean pale malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. Spot on West Coast style. Loved it, glad I got a 6 pack.

Wish fall would make it to Colorado, we are going to be flirting with 100 today and tomorrow. And wait until you start brewing lagers, I use a 4l starter for my lagers, it's crazy.

So you're the dude mowing the lawn at 7am on a Sunday? Only thing worse is church bells. But, I left my window open all night last night and it seems like a fall day finally so that sounds like something I should pick up. Probably a good thing I can't buy beer for 3 hours. I think i spent all my money yesterday
