I am sure what I am about to type here is how it is for many Hop Heads out there. I many years ago was a Hefeweizen drinker until someone introduced me to Sierra Nevada Pale ale! A real eye opener! From there it was a steady progression up the ladder to IPAs and Imperial/Double IPAs . Just the other day I was in the Super Market in the Beer Section of course and on impulse grabbed a 6 Pack of SN Pale ale (been years since I had it) . I figured this is gonna real be kinda blah but instead found it still works! Loving it as much as the first time! Anyone else had this experience?
Most of the freshest and/or local options have been Hazy IPAs or NEIPAs, because capitalism. I went several months without having a West or East coast take on the style, and then bought SN Torpedo and DFH 60. Simply put, I'm mad at myself for taking so long.
I think just about any beer gets boring after time. Then once you take a break and come back they are what you remembered and great. I try and give myself breaks from it all, when I start thinking everything sucks I know its a beer break time. Then after a few weeks its great again. SN and others are always classic beers, they are consistent and deliver.
I always pick up Hopslam and The Waldos' as soon as they're available. I look at them as yearly reminders of why I rated them 5's across the board. They never disappoint.
