Other Half (2019)

In for 6-630 on Monday. Told my wife I'm staying in the city late to drink beer with people from the internet.

Do people usually bring stuff to share at these things?

 

Awesome news! Yeah first time I told my wife I was going drinking with people from the internet it took some persuading.

So far we haven’t really brought stuff - except for a handful of cans for the tose v non tose, and OH v Hf blind taste tests

If there’s some EQ or HV beer you want to put up against one of the current OH releases tho...

 

Ha. Pretty sure we all told our wives the same thing at first. But then, after your first one, it’s technically no longer people from the internet anymore.

I appreciate being included! Unfortunately I can’t make weeknights (except for Friday’s) but I’m hoping to make a weekend meetup again at some point. I met some of you at a Sixpoint meetup last year and looking forward to doing it again. And shit, I take no responsibility for olmsted leaving - I made one obviously snarky comment!

 

Like others have said, you’re exaggerating here quite a bit and he did call someone out first so it wasn’t like he was just attacked out of nowhere. AND be careful how you describe him because people may just end up buying me a beer (not that I’d complain). I myself have been known to sit quietly with a book at breweries when I can’t bring my wife and have no friends available.

 

Thanks for the invite but Monday isn’t good for me. I am semi-local so will keep an eye out for future get togethers.

 

Interested in your question as well. Is OH cool with bringing outside beer to drink there? Would be nice to arrange a bottle/can share.

 

I'm hoping @NewmansOwn finally joins one of these, especially since we've been connected on Untappd for over two years and I'm pretty certain we once sat next to each other at Torst without knowing it at the time.

 

God damnit.

Moving on -- likely won't be able to make Monday, but I'm definitely in for it being a semi-regular thing. Weeknight every other week, once a month on the weekends?

Also, predicting tomorrow to be busier than recent releases given (1) something about the beer, I'm sure, if I was paying attention beyond Mylar, (2) lack of other options this week -- 2 cans and 2 bottles in the Insta story today is a far cry from past weeks of 11 and 14 options, and (3) all you Long Island/Jersey crazies are done with summer vacations and will be packing up the lines to buy a ton of beer to drown your sorrows about living in such obscure locales.

Real talk - I scrolled back through the last 4 pages and looked at the google sheet we had for prior meet ups. But my sensitivity capped out there. Tose, hops and other substances have crushed my memory. Post more man - I’m like a goldfish!

@Xerlic - had an idea about a taste test. I have one can of qualify left and they still have crickets on tap. Maybe Suarez v OH Pilsner should be the game this time. I feel like this could be my kryptonite, in the way tose was for @frozyn - I suck off suarez way too much. Karma is bound to get me on this

Damn this is such a good weekend but I can't load up cause I'm on vacation in a week and then I'm moving. At least I'll be a lot closer to OH so I can now seriously grumble about how OH hates locals until they make a post about ROC they brought down.

It’s all good man. Looking at my post history I apparently don’t post nearly as much as I assumed I did around here.

Random story- just got back from taking the family on a trip to Disney world. Wore my OH t shirt one day and got a bunch of “how cutes.” I guess people thought that I was advertising being my wife’s “other half.” Not many beer fans to be encountered while waiting to meet chip and dale.

 

Aw. I don’t make the list? Guess I’m not elementary enough.

 

It's actually been a while since I've been to EQ. Ever since I found out OH was open during the day, they've been my regular for hops. I find EQ tends to run sweeter and juicier, and I just prefer OH as a whole.

I do have some cans of HVB that I can bring down. I'm sure even @frozyn's basic palate can pick out the tose in HVB beer tho. I mean for his sake I hope he can....

Don't sweat it man. I included rozzom in my latest Shaun Hill fancfiction, and I didn't even get a shoutout.

I've actually never had an OH pilsner, so I'd be really interested in doing this myself.

 

One of the most unbelievable moments in sports history was when Buster Douglas knocked out Tyson, it was insane! Tyson was a unstoppable force back then.

 

@rozzom Thanks for the mention and I would love to meet up, but with a crazy schedule and living on UWS, weekdays are usually impossible for me. Whenever we decide to have next weekend meetup, I'll be there.
