Simply because there is no time like the present, I opened up this 2013 Pretty Things Our Finest Regards tonight. It is wonderful. If you’ve got something from them in your basement, cheers.

Nice. I've got one last Our Finest Regards and a couple of Barbapapas and Fumapapas on hand but I've been loath to open them. Perhaps the knowledge that Pretty Things has been succeeded by their new St Mars of the Desert venture will free me of such bottle-hoarding sentimentality.

I had my last Fuma in Oct-17 and there was a little oxidation, but still some nice smoke. IDK if that impacts when you open the bottles but I figured I'd provide that note.

Thanks for the heads up. If I've allowed 'em to age beyond their proper lifespan I'll be content knowing it was my failure, not the beers'.

Loved their beers! Hopefully we can see them back here at some point.

Bumping this post because tonight I finally got around to opening my (last) 2013 Our Finest Regards. This ages so well. It tastes like unusually profound fruitcake. Outstanding.

Ah, Pretty Things, I miss you so...

Cheers to that. No time like the present and drink them if you’ve got them. After all, you can’t take them with you.

Yeah, I don't cellar a lot of stuff but I hoarded a number of Pretty Things bottles when they shut down. I was starting to fret that 5+ years might be pushing things with this bottle and decided to drink it rather than hold on to it in perpetuity and have it tucked under my arm when I'm laid out in my coffin so my funeral's meager number of attendees could see it and say, "What the hell is that?"

I think I made the right choice.

I also made the right choice with a 2015 Fumapapa a few nights back. Paradise.

Great to hear on the Fumapapa. I have one left that will now get cracked soon.

I had one Finest Regards left. A couple years back, I sent my friend down to my cellar with carte blanche. Came out to the fire with two glasses split with this beer. Now, this in and of itself is wonderful: A great beer with a great friend by the fire. The downside? It was well after midnight. We'd had been served enough beer that day. I barely remember it.

Upon seeing the empty bottle in the morning, I was profoundly bummed I didn't drink it in a better state of mind.

We’ve all been there at some point, I’m sure. I’ve felt the same (my birthday is on NYE so this happens more frequently than it should), but the way I look at it: it was a good experience, so that has to count for something. Better than sipping it by yourself in front of a computer screen, writing a self-gratifying review.:beers:

Good to know - I have a couple on the shelf at the house as well! Grampus - holy cow (whale?), what a beer that was...

Hey all. I guess I missed this thread so far. I live 10 minutes away from Dann and Martha’s new place, and am pleased to report they are doing good, brewing great beer, and seem to be enjoying it. They’ve had a good reception here, so far, and are slowly making a name for themselves.
They caved in a little by offering up hazy numbers (Dann wasn’t at all keen to brew these, but that’s what most punters want over here at the minute), and they are really good. Recent notable brews have included an Imperial Mild to a Victorian recipe, a Landbier, with a Quad just about to be put out. So basically, carrying on where they left off. Oh, and they ditched the bomber bottles, and have switched to cans!
