Alpine Nelson. Here we go again?

My brother bought a 6er of Nelson bottles today (bottled around early July) and I popped one and got a nasty grape juice alcohol taste out of it. Poured it down the drain. Fresh, the beer was palatable. Don’t know if I just have a whack palate or it falls off hard with age.

 

Werd. I keep reading the new posts on this thread in the hopes that someone might say "damn, just bought some cans and it was absolutely amazing, tastes just like old times".

Nuthin wrong with posting your thoughts and feeling of the new ABC Nelson here. I highly doubt it'll ever be the same OG Nelson. As a matter of fact I'll bet my soon to be 10 year old Pliny bottle on it. My 10 year old pliny bottle will probably taste better than the latest batch of Nelson.

Picked up a six pack of cans recently. Was fresh. Tasted fine. Like a solid 4 rated ipa. Not OG for sure but better than the batches from last year.

 

. . .oh damn! Here we go again. Just opened my first Nelson can.
Not bad. Good. Canned 8-23. Not great. Not og. Just good. I feel you need to open and drink sooner than later. Need to taste on draft. After taste? I’m feeling like a Pour Decision.

 

but it's identical to OG, the blatant difference is in everyone's head, right? RIGHT?

 

WRONG! Alpine Nelson will never be the same. Everybody’s head is different. Some egg shape, some round shaped, some square shaped and some alien shaped. Plus everybody’s head is fuc’d up. But those of us who been there when OG Nelson was great will remember the first taste. That’s how I felt about my first taste of Green Diamonds. That wow factor. You will never forget it. My local store where I picked up the 6pk from the guy behind the counter said it was very good. I asked him if he had the original Nelson. He said no. So for someone who’s never had OG Nelson this is probably pretty good, considering we have so much better IPA’s to chose from today. This Nelson is not drain pour. It’s a good beer. I’ve had a lot worse beers From new brewery’s. I would definitely buy this over anything The Doods or 4 Boys put out. That’s all.

Yeah, it’ll never be OG. It no longer tastes like you have to drive out to the middle of nowhere to get it. Shitty excuse for OG Nelson.
