I was thinking the same thing with these 450 North slushies. I've jumped on the hype train and am seeking out every slushy release that hits. I've started drinking 450 North slushies from the last release and although they've tasted tremendous I never get a buzz from them, not like a IPA were I can usually feel it instantly.

    -Cheers from California:beers:

Got a buddy that is #1 in line. He got there before opening. The hype is building for 450 North Brewing. The beers they are releasing do sounds tremendous.

I get the hype, but being in line 24 hours before for this is silly. Its also a reflection of the fact that they do a terrible job of setting allotments. I get wanting hype for your brewery, but setting 4 4-packs per person for each slushy knowing their gonna get hoarded and then sold for a profit just doesnt make any sense to me as a consumer or from the breweries point of view. They cut that in half and theyll still have hype but allow twice the number of people to enjoy the beer at its intended price. I was thinking about going down, but im not waiting that long for it.

There was a post in the Great Lakes forums not too long ago from someone who claimed you could get your ticket for an allotment the night before then come back the next day and pick it up without waiting. They never did post it in this thread so I'm not sure if the validity of it.

If that's true I'd be pretty salty too.

It's true and it has happened more than once. They hand out wristbands to signify your place in line. A few weeks in a row not too long ago they gave out wristbands starting at like 7-8PM the night before the release. They did it on closing on Thursday. Then they say they start handing out wristbands around 7AM the day of the release but it's been way earlier depending on if the employee wants to show up. There is no consistency too it. So if you were sitting there Thursday night having a pint and got a wrist band, you could just go home and stroll in at 11AM Friday before the release and literally walk to the front of the line.

Allotments are the real issue, though. Why they don't cut them to give more people a chance to enjoy their beer instead of people reselling and trading, I don't know. Fear? Short sidedness? Who knows, only them.

I visited the brewery about 3 weeks ago. There is nothing impressive about the slushy beers. Even the pizza wasn't very good. Tasted like Digiorno's. The Silver Nuggets ipa was good though.

I walked into a 7/11 and grabbed a slushy with no line...and no limits!

Cutting the allotments and doubling the people. So then the people in the back of the line complain about the amt of time to get their beer. Seems counter productive

That sounds pretty shitty. They should have a written policy and stick to it.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say you dont like the current alotment just because you feel bad about the people who would possibly have to wait long in line.... by the way those people would at least have the choice to wait but what does that matter when there are #maxprofits amiright

I'm shocked that a brewery that is famous for pumping kettle sours with puree doesn't have a tightly regimented release policy.

    Absolutely shocked.

    Wh...what?

You think brewers set allotments based on the amount of time the last person in line has to wait?

They just finished a massive new production facility on property, so we will see what they do. Curious to see if they make their releases more accessible for more people, which means no more lining up the day before, or if they use it to pump out some shelf IPAs and start distributing

I’ve never even been, lol. Just a fan of what I have had. I was just guessing that people standing in line that long would be complaining. Doesn’t seem too far fetched.

The reason they make the allotments what they are is because they know they will 100% sell out the day of release from Illinois mulers. I am hoping for their festival this weekend they have the foresight to cut the allotments in half so they will have beer available into Saturday for all the people coming into town. I'm guessing that won't happen, and all the people who mule beer will just be selling it on site at the festival for 10 dollars a can.

Last year that's what they did. Half Friday, half Saturday. This year they already announced that they will not be doing that. It'll be full release Friday and whatever is left over Saturday will be for sale (presumably) when the gates open for the VIP line to form at 10:30.
