    Notch brews mostly traditional beer.

    I’ll let it slide.

I must admit I didn't really "get" the Mliko pour in the abstract - pure foam just isn't that pleasant to drink in my experience. But I should have known that those fancy spigots with their ultra creamy foam were a different story. Tried one this afternoon and thought it was fantastic as a fun change of pace.

The Berliner Weisse smoothies were pouring like gangbusters too (though we didn't try one)

I have to say I always love the crowd vibe there. It just feels like a great community gathering place where everyone from tatooed hipsters to stroller toting parents (and some folks who are both) can relax and enjoy a beer, a cool view, and some friendly chatting.

Went to the Hungry Wolf afterwords based on several recs and thought it was indeed a great spot.

    "Howling Wolf"

The "Hungry Wolf" is what you are before you eat there.

    The readjustment?

You mean from slushies to traditional?

Ya. Hoping for some generous distro throughout MA. Otherwise, a hike may be in order

I know we're all just having a laugh about how "off brand" the slushy thing is for them. But it was kind of interesting just how normal it actually seemed up there. Rather than some grand commentary on the direction of beer culture or anything it's basically just "Hey, it's fucking hot out why not make a damn beer slushy to drink in the sun?" and then "Damn, that purple thing looks pretty refreshing ".

They should figure out some kind of dunkel hot chocolate for winter time :sunglasses:

I've typically seen it quite a few places in MA, granted these were probably all around the Somerville/Cambridge area.

I'm in for at least a few four packs this time around.

I could see a Schwarzbier or a Doppelbock working too.

Picked up a 4-pack at Vinnin in Swampscott last night. Light bodied and very drinkable - slightly sweet with a touch of nuttiness. My only benchmark for Caribbean pils is Presidente which is awful IMO - this is infinitely better. Not my favorite in Notch's line up, but at $7/4-pack I don't regret the purchase.

Thanks AlcahueteJ for bringing Notch to my attention on a different forum a while back.

I was gifted 2x 12-oz.cans of Session Pils recently, nice. I would have guessed it would have been rated higher, I did.

I latched on to a 6-er of pint cans of Zwickel Beer from Total Wines this afternoon, a tasting is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
The info page for this beer on Notch'e website is the most info available, in one place, about this style.
Lower ABV, less hoppy version of Kellerbier in short.

I like what another site says about Kellerbier in general "they are the lager world's answer to real ale".

    Prost.

Oh Nooooo, Mr. Bill, I should have had my readers on.
What I thought was BOTTLED ON 07/03/19 is actually BEST BY.
I didn't realize this until the second one. Its still a great beer this Notch Zwickel Beer. True to Kellerbier style and it says on the label its based on Pale Lager, its pale-straw-orange in color. It would have gotten a 4+ just for being so true to style.

I'm not going to review it until I find a fresh batch. I think only the hop flavor has degraded, it's lightly hopped to begin with and whats there tastes imported.

My post in Beer Shop Finds:

“Picked up the Voll Projekt Festbier today.

It was difficult to get back into my car due to the size of my erection.”
