I was a fan of the few Brut IPAs I have tried and hope that the style doesn't die out, as I dig the lower bitterness (but still crisp and sharp) and that they are a lower calorie and carb option from what I have noticed. Looks like Brut Lagers are [back] on the radar and I am definitely interested. Has anyone ever had one?

Kulmbacher EKU Pils always drank like a tight and dry brut-style beer. Tight and frothy bright white cap all at once!

Yeah, dry and crisp is what I said in my review. Prost!

Does this mean I get to finally try Bud Dry?

What, the MAD Magazine dude? They shut down the magazine and the pipe-smoking cartoonist starts brewing? WTF?

I don't know - I always thought it was weird that "Uncle Joe" Owades claimed to have developed the first "light beer" recipe using amyloglucosidase for Rheingold Brewing Co., in the mid-60s. Even though Owades was a Rheingold V.P. and Technical Director, somehow the company decided to name the beer after a Swiss chemist, Hersch Gablinger (who apparently first isolated the enzyme).

Just never seemed fair - what, Owades' face (below, left) on the can wouldn't have sold it as well (or, as poorly, depending on who you believe)? I mean, c'mon - "facial hair" - we all know that's what sells beer.

So, I propose that Schell rename the beer "Owades Lager" in tribute*, and then the next usage by another brewer follows suit and call theirs "Berg Brew".

I mean, that makes more sense to me that naming it after the aftershave lotion (which even comes in a green bottle!) as well as less deceptive, too, since the real Brut is over 50% ABV and even includes the warning:
    @bergbrew

    * Just don't ferment it in those wooden vessels you have! Joe would not approve!
