Going to take advantage of the lousy weather and not do a darn thing today, except drink some beer. My brother got me this collab from Cycle and Bottle Logic. Damn tasty. Happy Sunday, advocates!

Have a nice Sunday BA, I have a lot of errands and chores to do today.

Today’s morning big beer review. The Bruery Apfelsap. This was awesome. Solid head retention, minimal lacing. Aromas and flavors of huge lightly tart/tangy red apples, fruit peel, pear, apricot, honey, caramel, brown sugar, apple brandy, oak, wheat, and white bread; with lighter notes of oaken vanilla, cinnamon, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, grassy bitterness; and Fruit/brandy tang/tartness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; creamy, slick, bready malts; light syrupy, sticky hops, fruit tang/acids, and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering tart/tannic dryness; no cloying sweetness. Mild increasing warmth of 15.6%, minimal lingering barrel booze. Dangerously smooth slow sipper due to sweetness. I was hoping for a bit more yeast complexity, but you get what was promised: an awesome balance of fruit, apple brandy barrels, and rich malts. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Really big fan. 4.1

I'm starting off week two of the football season with a Heavy Seas Double Cannon. It's a double IPA with a lot of maltiness. It smells & tastes of caramel, brown sugar, pine & citrus fruit. It's good, but not great.

Steam cleaning the carpets this morning while the wife does all of the shopping for the week. Sounds like a great time to sip on some morning juice or as we all know it, M-43. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Monty Python Holy Grail Ale. This is a gorgoues ale, delicious Malt flavor and a perfect alcohol level at 4.7%. Golden Ales are special to me and it is hard to find ones I enjoy. Holy Grail Is now one of them.

I need to find a golden chalice to match my ceramic ale cup.

6 year revisit review thanks to @AZBeerDude72. Four Peaks Hop Knot. This was delicious. Lasting rocky head retention/thick foamy lacing. Flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, melon, passion fruit, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate cracker, white bread dough, light honey/toasted malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Similar/muted aromas. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation/body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and some resins/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness, no hop astringency. Very smooth, not aggressive, minimal warming 6.7%. Cascade, Glacier, Liberty, Magnum, Simcoe hops. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice clean malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Well made old school IPA. My score didn't change much. 3.91

Good day BAs! Today's New Breakfast Beer is the last bottle of the four-pack:

Since I neglected to review it earlier, it becomes the cross-post with today's NBS.

Bell's Two Hearted. Fantastic as always. Aromas and flavors of huge ruby red grapefruit, mandarin orange, lemon, peach, pineapple, apricot, mango, honeydew melon, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate honey, white bread dough, toasted biscuit, light caramel/nutty malts; and herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-plus body, and fairly crisp finishing. Balanced creamy/bready/grainy malts, sticky hops, and light resin/rinds in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying/astringent. Very smooth/soft, not aggressive, minimal warming 7%. Amazing Centennial showcase as expected. Very juicy, vibrant, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a nice sized balancing bready Vienna/pale malt backbone. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. Spot on Midwest style IPA. Prefer the Founders Centennial more, but love both. Just as impressive as the Double as well. Will keep it in the fridge more often!

I’m 27 and have watched Minnesota basically my entire life and I’ve only had two moments as a Vikings fan that have crushed my soul. When Blair Walsh pulled that shit and when the Saints dismembered Favre alive on the field & then Peterson’s fumble, losing our Super Bowl chances. Grant it the Colts would have killed us..

And I'm 57, grew up in Madison. Was a Vikings fan and saw them go to and lose the super bowl 4 times I believe. Ouch.

Clear amber brown color with white cap and lacing.

Aroma of sweet malt with spiced pumpkin in the background.

Taste on entry is a nutty sweet malt with spiced pumpkin icing on top. An element of sweetness from start to finish yet the sweetness complements rather than intrudes. The spiciness may be nutmeg or that may be my imagination. It does all blend well together making for a fairly complex beer with all parts singing in harmony. Pumpkin beers in general, to my tasting, have a routine sort of pattern as of course they must emphasize pumpkin in some way which may result in a single dimension sort of flavor, especially ones that get carried away with the spices. This is round, rich, smooth with low bitterness and very enjoyable for the style.

This is a 50/50 base blend of Genetic Drift/Incipient. This was amazing. Solid head retention/minimal spotty lacing. Aromas and flavors of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, guava, strawberry, mango, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, and grass; with moderate wheat, cracker, white bready malts; lighter notes of peppercorn, oaken vanilla, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tart/sourness, Brett tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, lactic acidid, and some oak tang/tannins in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing acidic/tannic/spicy dryness, no pucker/astringency. Super flavorful/refreshing, not overly lactic, 6.5%. An absolute perfect balance between Golden Sour and wild saison. Amazingly well rounded Brett, Bacteria, Saison yeast complexity; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity, and solid overall oak presence. Grabbed more after I reviewed it. Still have 1 left. Hope they make another batch.

A beautiful morning on the marsh...first, I fed the foxes about 7am:

Then fed the cat, the dogs, the fish, then finally 2 full syringes of formula to the kitten which is approximately 4 weeks old...now sitting on the patio drinking “Two Tickets” a Belgian Grand Cru collab between Gravity Brew Lab (Miami) and Evil Twin, with Lucuma purée and cold brewed Kenyan coffee added:

Working on my notes for NBS as I watch the tide rise in the marsh:

Cheers and have a great Sunday from Charleston, SC!
