Yes Bill Marsala Mama is a classic WC IPA (old school ) as is Mango Mama the variant. Town hall has been and continues to put out great brews for over 20 years and some of the best BA brews to be had.

Try any beer from Maine brewing company and I think you will be impressed. Every style taste super fresh, homemade, rustic. Absolutely this beer has the 2 day old freshness with the creamy doll pops of remaining head.

I agree with this but also feel that so many new brewery’s are hitting our market (predominantly NEIPA’s, DIPA’s, etc.) but the beers come in with >2 months on them and they are asking $14-$20 for 4 pint cans. It’s hard to pay a premium for a product when it’s not in its optimal state (losing that freshness).

Get it from brewery to distributor to consumer in <2 weeks and I’m more prone to lay down that kind of cash. Otherwise I’ll pay $4-5 a pint at a local brewery with confidence in its freshness.

Got back last night from my flight to Reno/Sparks for a 3 1/2 visit to Revision with my bro-in-law for his birthday. Yesterday was the release of their newest NE (hazy) style IPA Invitation To Party. Full of Sabro and Vic Secret hops the aroma was unbelievable. First taste was so full of weed-like hit in your face. I thought it was too strong at first. I’m not sure if this is fresh hop? But it sure tasted like it. It mellowed out halfway through. Immediately burping out the sabro hops. Lost control of my palate after the pint of ItP (which was our 2nd pour). We ended up with another 4+ pours after the ItP and we really couldn’t tell the difference in taste except for the clear west coast Son of Dr Lupulin. 8 hours later I was still burping out the hops from ItP. Pretty damn fresh. Brought back several cans of it and others from the brewery. Looking forward to see how it holds up in cans.

It is of some interest to see this thread. Not all beer is better fresh, back in the day Bass was always better in free houses than in Bass pubs. The reason was that Bass takes a couple of weeks to settle and mature but the brewery wanted a quick turnover of barrels from their own pubs so beer was often sold "green" .
Beer was routinely stored for long periods before sale including IPA for India.
    Fashions change.

I suppose I still think "highly" of it, but I also think highly of plenty of IPAs that can be had for about $3 less per six pack.

I’ve had 5 week old Blazing World and thought it was really good. Guess I need to see if there is any younger cans out there

    Enjoy

That’s usually when I buy it. Around that 4 - 5 week mark. I’ve always liked the beer and the hops still shined but when I had it super fresh, don’t remember the exact date but it was like a week or so from canning it was almost like new hops were added as I was picking up different and more hops flavors. Kinda ruined blazing world for me unless I can find it super fresh.

    Hopslam on tap.
Wandered into an old favorite bar and it was on tap. Stunned: This bar has this beer? On tap? Already?
Abv limited sampling but what full, overwhelming flavor. Yeah. That one sticks in my mind even knowing it was brewed to be over the top.

I'll double or maybe triple down on the fresh squeezed. It could be one of the poorest IPA's once it gets some age on it. An almost sour caramelly taste comes to mind.

Came here to say the same thing. Simply because most people would think, "Really, Boston Lager can be amazing?"

I think it highlights how import "fresh from the source" is for all (most) styles.

I've found ~1 month old bottles that had that great hoppy snap to them as well. But you rarely see that.

This post sounds amazing, but my first thought was, "You were in Vermont and you're raving about Bigfoot and Sculpin?"

This was the first beer I recall people saying that it "falls off a cliff".

This was the first beer I remember as being ranked number one for IPAs here on Beeradvocate. The second one I remember being number one was Sculpin.

I'm talking about single IPAs of course.

But Masala was also one of the first beers other than Westvleteren 12 that I remember being at the top of a list for styles that you could only get from the source.

2 week old tropicalia from creature comforts has put them on the map as one of the easiest drinking ipa and good starting point if you don’t like IPAs which is a crime in itself. I’m an anal date checker and not an advocate of breweries putting best by. How do they know? My blood type is ipa positive.

Every year I’ll find some and get my fix. It’s not the honey they use it’s the quality of brewing to make it very balanced. I can’t imagine on tap.

Fresh Jai Alai is the truth, hard to find it under a month in stores here though

But yeah, MOST beers are significantly better fresh ESPECIALLY IPAs. I try to buy the majority of my hoppy stuff fresh from breweries or trade for it right after the release. Then I try to drink it within one month of the canning date

Jai Alai here is always old , it’s not my favorite to begin with but with age on it it’s really not a good experience. I’d imagine old ZD would be about the same Citra imo doesn’t age gracefully.

Hard to find it here in ga too. 4 to 6 weeks is my limit. Seems it sits on the shelf too long, finding 2 month old a lot. Guess no one is drinking it. That twelve pack price is perfect at 18.99

I mean I think people are drinking it, I just have little faith in distributors getting craft beer to places promptly when their main priorities are usually macro beer

Most of the Toppling Goliath stuff we get down here is fucking ANCIENT too. We get stuff that is 2-3 months old when we get it

Your probably right. One time, I thought for fun I would see wal marts crappie beer selection. Picked up a bottle of torpedo which I can’t drink anymore and the date was a year ago. Some dip ____ is gonna get burned.
