Keep up the good work dude, and make sure you get all your trade value out of it, and let us know what it went for.

i had it trough good sources , yet i hope you'd understand i wont say this here, since they'll all want to trade dollar 4 dollar than, while this is much more worth in trading than what i payed it ( by luck ).. and if it aint, well, i'd rather drink it than :stuck_out_tongue:

You're asking for advice, here's mine: don't buy beer speculatively without having a clue about its value and then ask strangers for their opinions.

It's worth what you paid for it, in the absence of more information. People could buy it online for a while, and it was easy to find in many places in Belgium for a long while, so it will almost certainly not get you anything off your whale list above. Darkness is a very real possibility, possibly regular Hunahpu, but I personally would keep the Straffe.

Asking how much was paid for the bottle in question is a perfectly reasonable question if we are discusing trade value. You sound greedy, friend.

    They still can...

Oh, well if it's still available online then I'll change my response to this having no trade value if an international trade is required.

is it still buyable online? didnt realize that...
as for the greedy, wel i just dont wanna give it away to cheap, y'know? like i'd trade it for something and later find out i could get 3 of that for it...
anyway i posted it in the ISO FT forum , i can add other bottles as well if needed, so we'l c what it does. i'd trade it for the first intresting thing to not make it an auction
and if it doens't trade ( for something worthy to me) than i guess it aint a big punishment drinking it
thnx for the responses though !

Despite the comments from the sarcastic jokers above, the expectation is that as a trader you will ask for something of equal value, but this doesn't seem to be the case since you are being so secretive about how much you spent on these bottles. If that doesn't seem worth your time, maybe try eBay?

Anyway, they're available online for €30, so I hope you spent less than that.

hehe, as i said, i'm not intrested in doing auctions, and certainly not ebay  just wanna make sure i dont give em up for too less, as i did with other bottles.
i didnt realize it was available online till you said it ( after i've posted it ) before that it seemed ( as from the reactions) it was worth something. apearently , it aint. thats ok, again, dont wanna rip anyone off. a trade proposal is just a proposal, i dont MAKE them trade you know.. plus i posted it with the info i would definetly add bottles or trade from others than the list , and i'm not sure what it was worth. if no-one wants to trade it, i'll just drink it myself
i did spent less than 30 yeah, as i said, sometimes you can just be lucky.
the reason i wont tell the price is not due to greedyness, its more like i'm afraid that if i'd buy if for a lets say 'cheap' price, i'd onley could get ' cheap' beers in stead. if its sold for 30 on the internet, i should be able to get a beer of 30 on the internet for it, no matter how much i paid, right?
anyway seems like the people are once again devided about the value of it. but 30 euro's on the internet seems like a sweeter deal than trading international, no matter what  but again, i did not know this...

Some historical price info for the hell of it:

I bought some at 7 euro per 750 at 3F in 2010. Also have seen it for 10-15 euro at various shops since then.

yeah but if you pull it to extremes, lets say a cantillon geuze costed you 3 bucks back in 1987 or something, would you still say it's worth 3 bucks? vintages are rares and trough that higher priced.
this , of cource, is something else if these shops you talk about sell it for 10-15 at this moment. but if you speek in the past, than i guess this is rather irrelevant. than i think the current value of 30 is a better thing to compare with.. or do i look at it in a wrong way ?

I think you are looking at trading in general the wrong way.

...but you are not alone these days.

You're right about price being a function of time. But this particular faro isn't all that old (and its a faro! not a fine gueuze). In addition, the last time I saw it at 10-15 euro was earlier this year.

I'm gonna guess that your purchase price was around 12 euros...

Given that you put forth minimal effort and little money into obtaining these bottles, why should you expect someone to give you something in return that was more expensive and more difficult to obtain? This is what you are implying.

The main reason I asked how much you personally paid is that, having had Straffe Winter in the past, I personally think €30 is an unreasonable price - and I'd imagine that I'm not alone as BIAB has kept their stock for several years now.

I think we need autocorrect on this thread.

Don't worry about the "trade value", if you are happy with the beer that you are getting in return, then that's good enough.
