Bell's O Captain! My Captain! I want to know why they called it a Black India PALE Lager and not a India Black Lager on the label lol. This was incredible. Lasting fluffy head retention/foamy lacing. Aromas and flavors of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, and pine hops; with moderate dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted biscuit, dark/brown bread, roasted nuts, and light smoke/char malts; with herbal, floral, grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery, roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Medium-plus carbonation, light-medium body, and fairly crisp/clean finishing. Balanced bready/grainy malts, sticky hops; some resins/rinds and chalky roast in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate increasing bitter dryness; no acrid/astringent flavors. Perfectly clean layering, no yeasty notes. Refreshingly smooth, not aggressive, zero warming 5.5%. Feels like Centennial, Columbus, and Simcoe, Very vibrant, and fairly juicy/dank/earthy hops; with a great clean roast/bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. Really glad I got the pack as expected. One of the best low ABV Black beers I've had! 4.28

Now stopping by Southern Appalachian brewery, sipping their imperial stout. Surprisingly drinkable in this unseasonably warm weather.

 

Last night in Alexandria for the foreseeable future. Over the past year, I've spent the equivalent of two months here and have grown fond of Old Town and DC. Time to say a fond farewell to the city with Union Double Duckpin.

This beer is has the hop bitterness in the tongue the Fish Barrel Shoot Shop doesn't. Their likeness is the juicy parts. ERWO is more like an IPA. FBSS is juicier.

 

I just drank a Head Hunter before this, and this is a better beer. Just great flavor, dry finish, perfect carbonation.

 

Left Hand White Russian. This was outstanding. Lasting creamy/silky nitro head, thick lacing. Aromas and flavors of big milk/white chocolate, cocoa, nutty medium roast coffee, vanilla, cream, honey, and white bread dough; with light notes of peach, pear, apple, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very minimal herbal, grassy, roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Mild carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy, silky, velvety, bready nitro mouthfeel. Minimal sticky hops or chalky roast. Slightly increasing lingering bitter dryness, no cloying sweetness. Amazingly smooth/soft, minimal warming 8.9%. Fantastic balance of rich malts, lactose, coffee, and vanilla; minimal earthy hops, fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Tastes just like a white Russian without any boozy vodka. They nailed it. Will get a 4 pack. 4.18
