A blueberry pie IPA with maple syrup and cinnamon - am I the only one with no interest in this? I almost feel like I'll have to get a 4 pack to prove myself right.

I would just say there is a big divide in beer right now. People who like beer that tastes like beer and people who like beer that tastes like things other than beer. The latter can’t wait for this one. All is preference, I personally haven’t felt the urge or need to drive to kane in a long time. They do seem to be steering more towards the latter type of beer with what they’ve brewed and released lately. Heck even the antead variants were adjuncted up more than normal.

FYI, it is alright to like a good pilsner and a this collab just as it is to like BCBS and a pastry stout. When you go to a restaurant, do you only get spaghetti with sauce and one meatball or do you try something different everytime you go like me?

@7irondave actually was going to add that to my post but was past point of editing yes it is perfectly ok to dabble in all as I think a lot of us do. Should’ve included that in my post. Didn’t mean to divide us up into categories really but I guess looking back I kind of did unintentionally

Bit surprised you skipped out on 2920: Anniversary ales are not the typical “HYPE” beer, as they are “science of the mind.” Granted, I have not delved in yet, but there is little doubt of a cognizance assessment

I think using the Great Notion label art and posting the night before is peak hypetrain. Not hating at all; just calling it like I see it.

Granted, 2922 has vanilla and cinnamon and thus is far more hyped than the strong ale/barleywine-esque quad blend, but I've always been floored by their anniversary bottles. There's no denying they're seeing the kind of hype and attention pastry breweries are receiving, ala Florida, STL, Cali, but they still make some of the best non-flavored barrel aged dark ales in the world.

I’m guessing the night before announcement is due to them opening at 10 for bottle pickups.

The collab is... interesting. A little bit of a cough medicine thing going on right now. Hoping a little time mellows it out a bit.

I'm not at all against the style generally, but I have yet to have a Great Notion non-stout that wasn't underwhelming. Kane collabs in general (well, most collabs overall even) tend to be a riskier proposition. I get the appeal, it's fun to try the output of breweries you don't typically get your hands on... but nah. More for you all. Hope it turned out well.

Every time I get a Kane collab or even one of their trendy one off beers, I kind of regret just not getting more Overhead, Head High and sneakbox, or other of their more regular beers.

It isn't the quality of the collabs or one offs. Part of it is that I don't like the hazy IPAs in general all that much, or beers with a ton of adjuncts. The other part is cost as compared to the more regular beers, which are anything but regular.

@J5ryall couldnt agree more the core cans are where it’s at. The best part is I only have to drive 15 minutes down to wegmans to get them. I wonder if they will ever add a can or two of more core beers in the future.

Which ones you thinking for expansion of the core? Love Party Wave but I think it works better as an every few month release. Single fin and something like coastal plain?

I know it’s not a core beer by any means (because it’s once a year) but regular Port Omna would be my vote. A malty dark beer would be a nice year rounder. It’s such a spectacular stout. Easily better than any of the variants I’ve had (that coconut one a few years ago was pretty nice tho)
