In 2016 I received a letter from the Quebec government asking me why I hadn’t filed taxes in 7 years and threatening me with all that I would face if I didn’t file them immediately. Of course, I’d been living in Ontario all that time and and had filed here. The weirdest thing was that I’d been living and filing in Ontario since 1999. Apparently my accountant during the years in question had actually made a slight error in my returns. It was a bloody headache, and took much time to sort out. And then in 2017 I was audited...

I don’t much care for income tax filing anymore!

I attended a great festival on Saturday, and hadn’t had a hankering for a beer until just a few minutes ago. The festival was great. I had much great beer that was new to me including several generous pours of Zenne Y Frontera which didn’t disappoint. I had great beer from Auval, The Veil, Weldwerks, Pen Druid, and de Garde. My favourite of the festival was an amber lager from Notch, a new brewery for me. It may have been the best amber lager I’ve ever tried. Their Helles was excellent too. ISO more Notch!

Tonight, a classic I’ve never had before. 3 Floyd’s Zombie Dust

Pours a bright and light copper with a moderate head that sticks around and laces nicely.

Big aroma on the pour. All that is expected from Citra hops. Citrus, a little pine. A grainy note in the background.

Taste follows nose. Lovely citrus and pine with a light malty backbone. Lovely bitterness.

    Medium body.

This is an excellent beer. I’ve been craving classic American pale ales and IPAs of late, so I may be a little biased at the moment, but this is justifiably a classic in the style by my reckoning.

    Hello Late Night NBS
    Guten Abend.
I just entered this nice into the database.
Bears Ears by Brouwerij West in San Pedro, CA

Clear golden-tinged copper in hue. Frothy, firm head asserts itself nicely. Good retention. Slight lacing.
Smell is slightly toasted malt, some buckwheat notes. Lightly sweet with a gentle, drying herbal note.
Taste is malt forward. Smooth and lightly toasted. Nuances lean toward caramel but then retreat to a lithe floral honey that also backs into a floral, slightly herbal spiced hop note. A graceful melding.
Mouthfeel is full enough for style. Carbonation plays along for a while nicely. Then it drops off.
Overall, I think this is a fine offering.
And I earned a few points with the wife for this one. Yay!
