Great job, Jack! What I love about the Sly Fox is how it comes across as a Vienna on steroids (which is a very good thing, imo.) It uses 100% Vienna malt, if I remember correctly, which doesn't seem to be a very common thing these days. Unfortunately for me the Sly Fox has been very scarce around here for the past couple of years. But this year my consolation has been that now I can get Zero Gravity's, and theirs is very much in the same ballpark.

[IMG] Poured into a Kettle 13 oz Snulip glass bottled on 5/06/19. Pours a very attractive dark orange with a solid finger of sticky white head that leaves thin wisps of lace as it slowly settles yielding excellent retention. 4.5

Smell is lime, tequila, and a slightly salty just like a margarita sorry not much more to add. 4.25

Taste follows lime, salt, and tequila really amazing how much like a carbonated margarita this is. 4.25

Mouthfeel is big, plenty of life, not dry, and at 10% ABV amazingly approachable but it warms you quickly and makes you feel funny. 4.5

overall this was one I had stayed away from, because Gose isn’t my thing but I am glad a beer tender at Kettlehead and @HorseheadsHophead encouraged me to pick this one up. As a former tequila lover this stuff is awesome and hope they brew this sauce again. 4.25

The quest is over I am having a Mackeson Triple Stout and you are Gorgoues!! Taste Maltier and more like an Ale then Left Hand. I love both but this is world class to me. Wonderful drink after a day in a gorgoues Gothic Church. This might be my favorite Ale.

Now for my Golden Chalice to Arrive and it will show Mackeson is my Holy Grail.

Happy New Beer Sunday, everyone! After years of following NBS, this is my first posting. I've always found that staging the photos takes me too long, and distracts from enjoying the beer. However, I was motivated by a particularly special find: 3 Fonteinen Oude Gueuze, Bottled 22 MAR 18, Best by 26 OCT 38.

3 Fonteinen Oude Gueuze is a beautiful orange hazy gold with a fine frothy head that drops slowly to foam rings. Aroma is a sharp tangy lemon zest with a hint of sweetness that reminds me of the smell of Smarties candy. There might be some funk in there too. The taste is a bright, pleasant sour and lemony citrus fizz riding back to the barn on a mildly earthy, funky mare. It feels microscopically thin and slides down with a fine-grit fizz. Overall it's just phenomenal, quenching and puckering, tart and head-spinning, and I want another glass. Very special, indeed.

Good review (and nice picture). The pictures are not a requirement (ask longtime "member" @drtth ), so feel free to drop back in any other time with or without a photo.

Can you give us a bit more about what makes this a new beer for you and some of the aromas and flavors you're picking up? Inquiring minds, etc. Thanks.

Happy Sunday NBS players. An overcast and grey day with the look of rain on the way here on the island. After 11 straight days of work I’m looking forward to a few days off. Today I’m staying home all day, watching non-stop mindless football, and knocking back brews. I’ve got a bunch of new beers on hand and I plan to get to at least two.

My first new beer is cold press coffee Pumking. I never tried last years release but being able to purchase a single bottle I’m giving this years a go. The brew checks in at 8.6% abv, and a 2019 vintage.

Light orange/amber color on the pour with good clarity and a non-sustaining white head. The nose gives a rather unique aroma with a sort of mesh of fall spices and coffee grinds. A rather sweet start to the drinking and that odd mesh carries right over from the nose. I get that sharp pumpkin flavor and spices upfront and a rush of the bitter coffee on the finish. Additional notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, brown sugar, honey, and caramel. Mouth feel is moderate and rather smooth drinking. The balancing of the variant coffee flavor/ base is a little muddled at times.

Overall, decent and drinkable but since I probably won’t revisit it means it’s just not to my liking. Gonna probably score around the 3.5 range or so,

I have never had it before and i made the exception for it and drove far to get it. Its a gem and the first Milk Stout

Creamy head, coffee and chocolate taste from the malt, good amount of lactose and the hops are present to balance out this Ale.If you are someone who only drinks Malt forward Ales like myself i am sure you will notice the hops.

Its at a great alcohol level at 4.9. Out of the three Milk stouts I've had more then once. Mackeson, Left Hand and Southern Tier. This is the most likely to be my favorite. Left Hand is amazing but feels a bit sweeter, but it could of been not as fresh. I taste the alcohol too much in Southern Tier, im not sure what it is.

Thanks. Does sound like something I'd like to try. I'll add it to my list to see if I can find it to try. If that happens I'll probably report on it for a New Beer Sunday and we'll be able to compare notes, so to speak.

Happy New Back to the Beer Future Sunday, Part 5, (Week 763)!
This will see the beginning of the end of the time travel. I have a collab from Week 752, followed by a return to Weeks 755/756, which will most likely take a couple of weeks to CANplete.

Inna meantime, I had a chuckle, courtesy of @JackHorzempa who I hope will be gracing us with his presence & that of his wonder scribe on Sa, 19 October. His remark: "Stoudts is the oldest craft brewery in the Philly area since they opened in 1987 – they are over 30 years old." is quintessential Filthadelphia, where they think that the entire Commonwealth is a suburb, including Erie! No, Stoudt's in in Adamstown, Lancaster County, a stone's throw from the Berks (Reading area) county line.

How do I know? I just up there this morning with my bestie from childhood who now runs a vintage wares shop & likes to go up & drive some of the hardest bargains that I've ever witnessed! I shoulda had him with me in the Middle East, where haggling was not only expected, but paying the asking price was frowned upon & some dealers would simply refuse to sell. I bought a LOT of precious gems this way, but I think that my buddy would have had them paying me to take them off of their hands! 8=O

Back to M. Horzempa's comment. Not so fast, my friend! Unless SEPTA comes to your (at least) county or city, then it is NOT "in the Philly area" & CANnot be claimed as such. Otherwise, where would it end, other than at every border with another state. SEPTA does not reach as far west as LanCo & I'm not sure that even buses get up to Berks Co. Nice try, though.

Me? I'm like Daniel Day-Lewis as Daniel Plainview at the end of "There Will Be Blood". Paraphrasing: PHL, you have beer. I like beer. You have glassware. I have more glassware! PHL, I drink your beer & go home!

How am I starting the day? With a PHL Beer Week CANlaboration beer, of course! 8=) How far did I travel for PBW this year? Downingtown! 8=) Keep yer PHL beer! ;=) The actual suburbs have loads going on unto themselves. Bucks County ($$$$) now has their own Ale Trail & much of it is accessible on SEPTA. DelCo is home to 2SP, among others, which brings us to:

I tend to follow the releases of the season. Stouts mostly in the colder months, Oktoberfests in the late summer, IPAs tend to be a year round thing for me.

Been a busy week for me. I usually work a night shift but was on days all last week. It’s nice for a change of pace but that’s about all I can take. Supposed to go to my first punk concert in about 20 years, seeing Lagwagon and Face to Face. These are the guys I listened to in my high school days. Looking forward to it but should be interesting as well.

Blind beer courtesy of @Jimmy_Kneecaps .
Looks like it says 3.2% but oh no, that’s a 8.2%. Definitely changes things.

Pours a murky pink/red/orange. Short lasting head. A few streams of tiny bubbles.

Soft and doughy, strawberry cake, candy chew.

Taste is an initial hit of orange, lime followed by a cotton candy, strawberry maybe, vanilla and creamy lactose taste. Tiny hint of tartness. This one is a weirdo and I’m not sure of the style. Lactose fruited sour? Is that a thing?

Creamy mouthfeel, slick. No hint of the alcohol until all of those tiny sips to figure out what this could be caught up. Feeing it a little LOL!

I’ll let this one warm up a bit before I reveal.

    The Alementary - Mr. Stevens

The can calls this a session porter. The brewer's website and BeerAdvocate call it a mild. The ABV seems to have creeped up from 3.5ish to 4.2 also. I guess the brewer had a change of heart. The beer is a very murky dark brown. Carbonation is very low. Tastes of dark chocolate and coffee beans. The body is relatively full but the taste is watery (this isn’t a negative). The beer isn’t pretty to look at, but it tastes great, goes down easy, and occupies a space that few craft brewers work in... be that space "session porter" or mild.

Ooh, that one sounds right up my alley. I see a lot of Alementary in my area, naturally, but don't recognize that label. I'll have to ask around, though.

New beer from what’s becoming one of my favorite breweries. Edmund’s Oast Pales in Comparison from Charleston SC, it’s a 5% Pale Ale, using German grown Amarillo Hops, why? I haven’t a clue. Canned on 8/23.

Pours a hazy straw color, tremendous head of dense foam, nose is all fruit with a bit of grapefruit perhaps. Now the taste doesn’t really follow the nose, the first sip suggests fruit but it’s not juicy at all, actually it’s very bitter. It hits more like a session beer than anything even remotely like a NEIPA which the only review I saw suggested. I’d say it even lacks a bit of flavor and could use a touch more malt, it’s a bit bland to go along with the bitter. If bitter is your thing this is certainly that, but it needs more balance imo.
