Hop Butcher (2019)

Palates are funny, I thought Riff was awful

 

It just tasted like a sour NE IPA to me (I'll admit the passion fruit was a little over-the-top initially). If I didn't like sour hazies, I'd probably have hated it too, especially since it was very different than I expected (not a milkshake, and definitely not representative of OG GB).

 

i know this is pure lunacy to suggest, but....

once released, could we just simply discuss the merits of this newest batch without referencing any previous batches whatsoever?

 

The galaxy tells us that time is all relative so in the entire scheme of things these batches may as well coexist with no discernible order of what came first or last instead they will all appear as a Schroedinger's beer that these batches neither exist or all exist at the same time. So no.

 

I agree with that, although not even one of the better sour IPAs I've ever had. This beer almost single handedly turned me off from any beer with passionfruit in the ingredients list.

 

Well, I’ve never had GB at all. So I can give my input with no precious attachment to any other batch. Not that my opinion means anything at all, but I’ll have no bias towards what it may or may not have tasted like previously. I’m looking forward to it, as I’ve enjoyed almost every HB offering I’ve had.

I don't think that's ever happened for any beer that's gotten more than one release...in the history of this website.

 

I mean, probably any batch of any beer will end up being flawed in some way.

Except that last batch of Galaxy Bowl, that was perfect.

 

If we didn't discuss and reminisce over old batches of Galaxy Bowl, this thread would be a lot shorter.

 

It would exclusively be people announcing the week's releases over and over and over and over and....

 

Why is this the first I'm hearing of this?!

Excited to try to pick some up if I can. Galaxy has been a really inconsistent hop compared year to year. So I doubt it returns to its original glory but I look forward to checking in on it and immediately coming here to read what people think.

 

Excited for both beers coming this week. I love HBs west coast stuff. And I’m a sucker for galaxy hops.

 

Did I miss somewhere that Skeleton Cruise is a "west coast" style IPA?

Because Galaxy Bowl CERTAINLY isn't a "west coast" style IPA.
