Hmmm ... Round 3 has some competitive matchups. Fremont v. Georgetown? I'll pick Holy Mountain over Black Raven, but not without some nostalgia for the time when Black Raven would be on most people's short list of the very best breweries around here.

Yeah, I took BR and G'town. It seems they have the brackets setup for a Fremont vs Reubens final.

    Attest? Hell, I define that.

The world ain't all sunshine, rainbows, and lollipops. The negative needs to be acknowledged.

    And, perhaps, attacked.

It’s all silliness....the real point is that we have so many great breweries...remember when we didn’t. The Times is trying to drum up clicks instead of writing real stories about the people who start and work in craft beer and the farmers we engage and support. Beer Matters, Craft Beer Will Abide.

In their defense, newspapers are a regrettably losing business these days, and "clicks" are all they have to salvage whatever's left of their advertising revenue. There is surely no shortage of journalists and editors, even at The Seattle Times, who wouldn't rather write the kind of stories you describe. But those are costly pieces and needs must if they wish to survive. The P-I went down in a heartbeat during the new media revolution. I'm not ungrateful the Times has somehow managed to stay afloat a decade later, and despite all the compromises they've had to make.

As discussed earlier, small to mid-sized breweries are no more immune to such harsh market dynamics. You probably know this better than anyone. We should continue to support those we believe are especially committed to doing things right, but also try to sympathize with those who are clinging to whatever life raft is available until they can find their own way.

It certainly beats reflexively shitting on things at every opportunity just because it's easy, costs us nothing, and makes us feel superior.

In a city with more than 4 amazing breweries, somebody’s bound to be disappointed. I’ve enjoyed the Stoup beers I’ve had, but wouldn’t personally put them in the same tier as the other 3; guess I need to pay more attention to them.

Sure, but I was thinking Fremont was a near lock. I'm betting on Holy Mountain now.

It's not as if any of the final 4 are a slouch. I'm surprised Fremont isn't part of the mix, but other than that, it's hard to quibble with the finalists.

No, just for Obec. I've voted G'town every round, especially after Machine House was eliminated.

Like I said, I thought Fremont was a near lock, but I also knew that the Kool Kid Kombo of Cloudburst and Holy Mountain would be forces.

I'm truly surprised. I didn't think the Millennials even looked at the Times.
