Out of curiosity, has everyone received at least one box?

That Naturdays was supposed to pay homage to @brutalfarce , haha! The mystery beer was supposed to be the Found on the Side of the Road. Alas, I forgot to cover it while rushing to pack up the box. It is for this reason why I must send a second box out to you with a properly wrapped mystery beer. I have to treat both my targets as if they were my children. Can’t pick favorites. If you do something for one, you also have to do it for the other. @jdell15 , you will be getting a second box too.

 

Two targets already hit me. Time to move across the country with no forwarding address before anything else has the chance to land.

Opening my blind beer from @SouthernSips .



Pours a medium brown, almost a bit reddish, with a very healthy foamy head that hasn't dissipated at all. Nose is a bit sweet, dark fruits jump to the front: raisins and figs with a hint of brown sugar. Before tasting it I'm thinking Belgian quad.

I may have biased myself by guessing early, but I'm finding Belgian notes on the palate as well. White raisins, caramel, brown sugar, figs, and a bit of spicy Belgian yeast. I'm now leaning towards dubbel. I think it's seen some oak. Long finish. I guess it could be an old ale, but I really think I'm getting Belgian yeast.

Reveal:



Southern Prohibition Rye for an Eye, a BBA barleywine with orange zest and cherries. Basically a take on the Old Fashioned cocktail. Don't really think I was all that close, but I can rationalize my miss... Rye giving me some spice and the cherries giving some dark fruit notes? Now that I know the cherries are there I get them on the nose. Caramel coming out a bit more as it warms.

Absolutely! In addition to my senders crushing me, my beer "friends" think it is hilarious to continuously bomb me with beer, snack cakes, and raw fish.

Nope, the one target I do know has said they would be waiting until closer to deadline, which I am fine with....the other I still have no clue who that individual is...haha

 

Yes, as for my targets I'm waiting on them to let their balls hang a bit and call me out. I've eliminated everyone except them on my sheet but probably going to put some overly obvious ones out there over the weekend as I plan on shipping Monday or Tuesday.
