    Hey guys (and gals) -
I'm sure this has been asked and answered ad nauseam, but I can't find any recent recommendations. If I'm just missing them and someone could point me to the appropriate thread(s), I'd appreciate it.

    But just in case -
I find myself headed to LA for the first time. Partially a work thing, partially a vacation. Gonna spend a few days in the Torrance to Long Beach area, then a few days in Agoura Hills. Not a ton of free time, but am looking forward to visiting a few places. We will have a car.

So far, planning to visit Monkish and Smog City. Is the FW Propagator place near LAX worth the trip? Others that should be on the list?

Are any of the breweries coming up around Agoura Hills better than another? None of them sounded familiar to me.

Any bottle shop recommendations around either that area of LA and/or Agoura Hills? Just looking for a place to stop for some hotel beers plus maybe a few to take back to Florida.

Lastly, if there's a restaurant (beer centric or not) that you feel like a first trip to LA would be incomplete without visiting, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks in advance - and again, if I'm just missing the thread with all the answers, please be kind

While in Long Beach, of course hit up beachwood - awesome food & great beers.

Best to 2 options around Agoura Hills. If you don't mind a little drive.

Casa Agria is maybe 25 miles north of Agoura Hills. They do sours & Ipa's.

Cellador Ales, is about 20 miles South east of Agoura Hills. They do sours only.

Near the Long Beach Airport is the Hanger. You can find Bottlecraft and a bunch of really good food court (a bit on the higher end).

It's definitely worth a trip if you're in the area. They always have Propagator exclusives on tap and their gift shop has a solid lineup of beers.

If you're going to be in Long Beach you pretty much have to go to Beachwood.

if you're lucky, and the timing works out, there could be a Three Chief's release while you're here and you could spend one of your days in a lawn chair in a parking lot

    I kid

what everyone else said. El Segundo Brewing is the closest brewery to LAX and worth checking out. good West Coast IPAs and a chill tasting room

    where are you staying?

El Segundo Brewing also runs Slice and Pint, which is just a few blocks away from the Brewery, if you want some good pizza to go with your ESBC beer.

Would recommend Long Beach Beer Lab just outside of Downtown Long Beach. Solid lagers and sours. Food and freshly baked goods onsite.

    Beachwood in the LBC

Highland Park if you find yourself in the vicinity at all.

Surprised no one has mentioned Ladyface in Agoura Hills. Great food, beer and atmosphere.

Their fresh baked breads are wonderful, on a couple occasions I've stopped in to Riip and have been greeted with trays of an assortment of their breads.

    Cheers,

Los Angeles is a fantasy goal for some individuals, yet on the off chance that you aren't acquainted with the zone, there are certainly a few things you should know before visiting LA just because. Los Angeles is Huge.

And one of the main arteries would be the 405 from the 101 to the 5 (known as the El Toro Y). Also the 101 freeway that takes you out to Agoura Hills area. It takes one accident on the 101 and your fuk’d.

Wow guys, I'm blown away by the responses! That's awesome. Thank you to everybody - great recommendations to fill my free time.

Torrance for a few days, then Agoura Hills

I realize this was tongue in cheek - but is their tap room actually open? Or are they just doing the random bottle releases? Google search showed open Hours of Operation, but their website implied it was still under construction...

One last question - are all the BevMo stores about the same if I find myself driving by one? Or is there another bottle shop in my travel areas that I should try to stop at?
Again - not trying to whale hunt, just looking for a stop with a solid selection. Though I would love to find a bottle of Pliny while in CA!
    Cheers!

Skip BevHo. If your gonna do a chain store check out Total Wine & More. They have a web site and the beer list is pretty much updated. But for a more update list use Untappd app. Total wine is listed there also and that is better than the website. Maybe someone here might know a good bottle shop in the Torrance/Long Beach area? The only one I’m familiar with is Select Beer store in Redondo Beach. If you go to Select, nearby is Naja’s at the Redondo Beach pier. Pliny should be available at most mom n pops stores. The Wine Country in Long Beach/Signal Hill area should have some bottles along with Blind Pig and other RRBC bottles. Sorry, forgot about the Wine Country store. They do have a very good selection of cans and bottles. If you do do Bottlecraft Long Beach you could swing by the Wine Country. Pliny bottles come and go bout every 2 weeks. They still fly off the shelves. So call ahead. Or have somebody hold you a bottle or 2. What other local cans are you looking for? If your in Torrance on a Friday you might get lucky and score some Monk cans. They have been doing their can releases on Friday’s around noonish. Again they are on Instagram and twatter.

On the way out to Agoura Hills you'll be very close to Valley Beverage Company in Sherman Oaks. They get Pliny but I'm not sure of the frequency. @valleybev is their Instagram.

A little further West there's a Bristol Farms (grocery store) in Woodland Hills that has a good beer selection. If there's been a Bottle Logic bottle release recently that's hit distro you can usually find it there.

I'll second the Ladyface recommendation in Agoura Hills, both for their own beer/food and for their guest taps, since one is almost always something from Russian River.

Long Beach bottleshops: The Wine Country in Signal Hill and Lazy Acres on Bellflower. I definitely second Select Beer Store in Redondo. 310 Liquor in Torrance on Crenshaw is pretty good, too

Since the new Windsor expansion, Pliny is pretty much everywhere. That said, so many better IPA options available IMO. And yes, skip BevMo and hit up the local bottle shops.

Skip the chain stores. Plenty of local shops with better, fresher selections.
